- Boring level design (not visually)
- Almost zero gameplay variety and creative gameplay elements
- You are never required to think outside the box

The only campaign I actually find fun to play is CE's.

Half-Life 2 is how a shooter's campaign should be. Brilliant.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

Why the Reach campaign was so bad in comparison to other Halo games... well, here goes:

Reach's campaign was not bad in comparison to all of the other games on the market. But the biggest gripe that I have with it is the fact that the clear and painstakingly obvious potential for so much more was clearly missed.

Sure, every game could be better but that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying it was so obvious on what Bungie could have done but for whatever reason they decided not to.

I find that in Reach we are exploring fairly dull areas. I am not just comparing this to the constant space operas that were in Halo 1-3 because even ODST managed to capture a feel that Reach simply did not.

Instead of fighting for the fortress world of the UNSC it feels as though we are fighting for a no-name outer colony world that is of minimal military importance. Where, I ask, is the UNSC Fleet? Apparently they're out taking the dog for a walk because we don't even hear about them until the start of Long Night of Solace. Afterwards? Never. We NEVER hear what happened to them or about their fight for Reach's space.

I would be willing to overlook that laughable flaw if the gameplay in the campaign was good but it was lackluster at best. It's Reach. If you were to read the book what would you assume? We'd be fighting for MAC generators, defending Admirals and planting mines/nukes in the heart of the Covenant fleet. What are we doing? We roamed the countryside in a tractor, saved some civilians (Spartans are overqualified) and took out ONE ship that was apparently invisible to the UNSC despite its insane size.

And let's talk about that Supercarrier, eh? The Long Night of Solace or the Long Night of Sore Ass. This thing was so big it is almost on par with the Unwavering Elephant (Sgt. Johnson) from First Strike. But Bungie decided that they would not show how big the ship was and make it seem like an Assault Carrier was tearing Reach a new one.

On this mission we're supposed to plant a slipspace drive in the carrier and blow it up. WHAT WOULD BE THE HARM IN JUST USING A NUKE? Seriously, it's Reach... don't tell me there aren't nukes around. Simply say: Oh, damn, that ship's shields would withstand a nuke so we have to get it inside the ship. Jorge could have still died, we could have still boarded the craft, it would have been the same except Reach would no longer look like a defenseless and pathetic planet.

Again, the absence of the UNSC fleet is beyond pathetic. Terrible storytelling.

I do see what they tried to do with Reach. They wanted it so that readers of the book would not know what would happen to Noble Team. They failed. No one cared. The only cool part of it all was Lone Wolf. THAT was what the entire game needed to feel like.

In short:
The gameplay flat out sucked and is quite boring when compared to other Halo games.

The storyline is PATHETIC. Absolutely pathetic. 343 is working on remedying the gaps between Reach the game and Reach the book but honestly it doesn't matter now. The missed potential of the game is too much.

Go back to Halo 3 and play The Storm and watch the cutscene at the end. The tensions between Lord Hood and the Elite Shipmaster are awesome. Where was anything like that in Reach? Where was the fall of a Fortress world? I wouldn't see it because I was too busy driving a tractor around the countryside.

The missed potential just amazes me.

Once upon a time I thought the campaign was terrible too.

Than I beat it on legendary. Alone.

Wait, is this a serious post?

It was bland.

The big epic battles that we were hoping for? You see them in the background.
The actual gameplay? A helluva lot of annoying (not challenging, just plain annoying) aliens and some idiotic friendly AI.

The story is okay but, like most of everything in Reach, is poorly implemented gameplay-wise.

Yep.
Playing on the hardest difficulty was actually.. well... fun.

Then again, I only played the campaign to get the achievements, so i'll let everyone else level this post out.

Fair enough, but once you get Legendary down to a science it loses the difficulty magic it once had. So when that's gone you're still looking at a bland campaign.

At least that's how it is for me.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

I do not think it's the best, but not the worst. It's probably my 3rd favorite. Exodus and PoA keep me coming back.

The story was a bit bland, but was a masterpeice compared to the gameplay. On Tip of the Spear, only a few hours after I got Reach, as I watched the beginning cutscene I thought I was going into an epic battle...only to be let down as I got stuck somewhere else.

Legendary is fairly fun on Reach. It was actually somewhat challenging. Exodus was most challenging of all. I questioned why this was, and I came up with this single conclusion: Its the only level Noble Team doesn't hold your hand(NA has falcons and exploits galore, hardly counts). I realize you are a "squad" and everything, but I would been OK with more instances where you get cut off.

That basically leaves Exodus,New Alexandria, 50% of The Package,30 seconds in LNoS, and Lone Wolf, if that counts at all. Sure, you still encounter parts where your squad mates aren't useful(Jorge fighting the zealots in WC, Kat in Tip of the Spear, ect.), but almost all of the campaign is no challenge,on Legendary or even LASO if you know what you are doing.

My Youtube channel, i post Halo gameplays and clips. :)

Well this is simple.
1) Soundtrack
2) The storyline isn't engaging
3) The characters are so boring and lifeless
4) The scenery is worse. Remember the massive forerunner structures in Halo? Like in 'The Ark' on Halo 3? Or remember how stunning High Charity looked in Halo 2? Reach just looks boring.
5) You feel no sense of achievement. Think about it. When you complete a level you think 'Well that's another one out the way'
