How could something be so huge (presumable the ark), be buried so shallow, and be right next to a huge city and never be detected expecily when there was a highway of some sort running right by it?

im pretty sure the forerunners, being an all advanced civilization and all, that can make weapons that kill everything, might be able to hide something. just maybe. this IS Sci-Fi and all.

because maybe that's not new mombasa like the forums told you. those rings are a little too big and too round to be the supports, and there's no nearby humongous skyscrapers. they're possibly downed ships or zanzibar-type mills or something.

i never said it was new mombasa and the ruins by the mc are of a space elevator but ni the back ground on the edge of the opposite side of the crater there is a large city or at least alot of buildings of some kind

It looks like a Covie cruiser could easily sit in that hole and not stick out the top, and if you read the books those things are the better part of a couple square miles....

hm really ill have to go back and look for buildings. but no matter what city it is, it's the same idea. if theres ten million people around, theyre going to notice a big ray gun outside eventually. maybe the ark rose up out of the ground into that crater?
