Been around this site since 03.

You know better than that mods, that comment below is not right an has even been reported but I guess nothing has been done about it since you know..... hes a Mythic....

  • 12.29.2011 10:07 AM PDT

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Them Mythics have perks.

They can't be banned.

But, perhaps a mod didn't find it rule breaking. Sure it is a douchey thing to say but it doesn't really break the rules. But I too am surprised he isn't banned.

What is wrong with that comment? Maybe it's just asking for a flame war, but the guy is entitled to an opinion.

Yes but sometimes it is best to keep quiet especially on a topic as sensitive as that one. Saying things like you don't care or ridiculing the victim can spark conflict and is not very nice or acceptable.

Sensitive? It's an internet forum.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

What he posted broke no rules. Was it mean? Yes.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

You do realize that because it is still hidden, that means the report has not been seen or handled by a ninja.... yet.

So, your evaluation is (and complaint) is premature.

But don't worry. I hear that it happens to a lot of guys.

And...? "It's an Internet forum" dosen't mean you're not expected to "play nice", as the rules say.

Personally I think it's playing nice if people don't bring in all their depressing crap from their lives.

"Play Nice" and "flaming" are only enforced unlesss it is INCREADIBLY obvious. Far too many people get away with it and not many people report it and the issue continues to grow.

Yeah, doesn't mean any moderator action was taken against him.

Still though, it was kind of a rude thing to say and totally out of line. It is sad though that SO MANY people get away with flaming and being a jerk just becuase they don't make it as obvious as what is really going on.

Wait, so if an inappropriate post gets enough reports, the post becomes censored automatically?

If people report a post X amount of times, it gets a report. The censor means the post could violate the code of conduct. At that point, a mod gets a message in a special inbox that links them to the post. They can choose to not do anything (as is the case here) or they can warn/ban them.

But, that thread was very emotional and rather sad. So any snarky comment like that should be bannable.

Remember the thread about someone we knew here that died made by Bobcast? If anyone made a rude comment about the guys death, you got a 14 day ban. But does this guy get banned? no.

From the thread:
Posted by: bobcast
As fair warning for anyone who tries to disrail this thread, you have been warned.

So, a comment like that one can de-rail the thread and is essentially the same exact situation. I know not all mods operate the same and have different judgement on the rules but we can see how some things are acceptable in different threads when they are the exact same thing.

On December 1st, 2012, I met Neil deGrasse Tyson. I shook the man's hand, and even made him laugh. Not much else to do with my life now.

I was so mad at that guy yesterday. What a terrible person.

Some of the replies on that thread disgusted me.

I remember Bobcast saying something about mourning the dead and if you make fun of them he'll give you 14 days. He is pretty active in the Flood, at least late in the night, I don't know why he didn't ban him.

Maybe he was sent a warning. I mean, that video made me cry...

That is entirely subject to opinion

Some of the replies on that thread disgusted me. Do you want to know what disgusts me? Intolerance to others opinions. I simply say I don't care and I get attacked by multiple members who tell me how much of a bad person I am. I realize that is an opinion in itself but they are essentially doing the same thing I did when I posted in the topic. That basically being telling me they don't care about me (Which I don't care if they don't care about me). This is entirely hypocritical and ignorant and annoys me to no extent. This is the trash that is now the Flood, and mostly the reason I do not go there anymore.

Of course seeing how you act in that situation you will probably ignore this entire statement and keep on giving irrational one-sided responses as always.

Sure, it's a pretty mean thing to say, but I don't think it's breaking any rules...

There is a unstated rule "don't be a jerk" and there are times when it is best to keep personal comments like that to yourself.

I can go into this deeper:
- The poster obviously did not care about the thread and gave his personal opinion which ended up being spam becuase it did not really contribute to the topic.

- The users comment also was offensive becuase of the threads nature and could easily be considered flaming or "being a jerk".

It is all how you interpret it. But I have been banned for expressing my opinion in a less rude manner before.
