Subject: C'mon man....

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Sure, it's a pretty mean thing to say, but I don't think it's breaking any rules...

There is a unstated rule "don't be a jerk" and there are times when it is best to keep personal comments like that to yourself.

I can go into this deeper:
- The poster obviously did not care about the thread and gave his personal opinion which ended up being spam becuase it did not really contribute to the topic.

- The users comment also was offensive becuase of the threads nature and could easily be considered flaming or "being a jerk".
The replies to the comment could also be considered as flaming or "being a jerk". They also contribute to the spam. So should we ban everyone who quoted him and told him what they thought of his comment? I mean, they contributed to the spam too. Why shouldn't they be banned?

Yes, and that is what is called a carpet ban which occurs when someone makes a comment JUST like that one and ruins the whole thread.

In a situation like that, everyone could be banned or the original poster can be banned and the thread is locked and people are given warnings.

This happens on a daily basis though, not just the thread we are discussing.

Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own council will I keep on who is to be trained. A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.” -Yoda

Wow Pathetic...

Yes and THERE lies the problems. I know the mods can't get everything but the are not dealing with a lot of it. Flaming usually goes unchecked.

But when this does happen and a mod sees it, I think the rules need to be a little more strict and more enforced. It was not an appropriate thing to say in a thread of someone dying.

It was reported and it has been reported for some time. The fact that the person who did it got away with it and is a Mythic member makes it ever more interesting.

The fact is there needs to be a crack down on ALL forms of flaming and being a jerk.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

What Recon said.
Also, how can people hate him for dying? They should suffer heart attacks so they can learn the kid's viewpoint.

What happened to the "Don't make threads to single out members" rule? Because that is exactly what you are doing.

Irrelevant.
You cry foul about others breaking the rules and then do it yourself...

Typical

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I dont see the problem.

He simply flat out dosent care about what the kid has to say, but it's not like he's braking any rules in the process.

Oh well, guys, we all know the "don't be a jerk" rule isn't actually enforced / taken seriously.

Them Mythics have perks.

No we don't.

They can't be banned.
Yes we can. Ask TU

Also, the guy is entitled to his opinion, even if it was a "prickish" thing to do he still has that right.

No he isn't. You can;t say whatever you want. It was a rude thing to say and breaks the "don't be a jerk" clause.

One thing you may not understand is that it might have been a heartless thing to say, but he wasn't flaming anyone for what they posted about the kid- just the kid himself. He also wasn't "trolling" anyone he was giving his honest opinion, though you may not agree with it (I sure as hell don't) but you have to look beyond your own feelings on the subject.

So we aren't allowed to have opinions now? Your first sentence states that we aren't allowed to have opinions. In my opinion, that makes you a jerk. If people start getting banned for opinions it will mean a type of tyranny has been instituted that I'm fairly certain the folks that run this site don't want in place. All I see in the linked post is someone who is indifferent to someone's plight.

I have been banned for saying less offensive things in threads.

Ehh, it is not my decision to make but what that guy said was not appropriate and I hope he got a warning to not be so offensive.

What you see with me is what you get. I would rather be hated for what I am than loved for something that I'm not.

I am who I am, not who you want me to be. Your approval isn't needed and your opinion isn't required or desired.

He is entitled to an opinion.

There is nothing wrong with a man stating his opinion. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean he should get banned.

Grow up.

I'm guessing the difference is you got banned because it was against another user, not a kid in a video. You can't (or shouldn't rather) be banned for "going against the stream".
