A lot of the members on this site, especially this forum, have been on this site for 5+ years. A lot of you are probably adults now, but still find the time to sit back and chill on the forums or play some games. What keeps you coming back? Is it your friends? The memories?

For me I'd have to say that playing Halo 2 with all of my best friends in high school sealed my love for gaming. The memories and friends I made were some of the greatest I have. As much as some people say that gaming is a waste of time I truly feel that I am who I am largely because of games and communities like Halo and Battlefield.

OT: I just turned 18 today. I didn't really get into the Halo world/community until Halo 3 was released. I played some Halo 2/CE/PC with friends before that but it was never serious, just when we hung out because it was cold out or we wanted to be inside.

What keeps me gaming/coming back? The experience and the addiction that stays with me.

Well, we all crave entertainment and the human society has always thrived on the development and participation in art.

I feel that gaming is an art. There are some that say "gaming can't be an artform because its something you 'win' at." To them, I reply that gaming has evolved far beyond something you simply win at. Gaming is a medium that combines elements of music, graphical art, acting, sound, interaction, and more. It, truthfully, is the ultimate expression of all forms of art and does so in a way that is truly social.

Bungie, to me, is the best in the industry at truly making games an expression of art and they stuff their games with so much love and support for their community that one can't help but become a social butterfly under their wings. The forum flourishes because we love the company and their titles. Its just fun interacting here. It keeps me coming back. I never know who I'll meet or what game I'll wind up playing next.

Right now, I'm lucky enough to have a lot of free time and disposable income. I don't really have much of a social life in this little Wyoming town of 17k people. But I suppose, most of all, is that I have a habit of becoming entrenched by games.

I can't really put my finger on it, but I still love games, and I'll keep playing until they cease to do so.

IMO, it's the weirdest title and I don't see it much. I've seen it twice today. You and another member, how fun :D

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

We miss you Logan.

Bungie is in my top 5 for making games. It pretty amazing watching how they started. I wonder what's next.

Who the hell do you think I am?

Well, video games are basically my life...

It's something I enjoy doing. My brothers and I still, to this day, sit around every christmas break and game. We talk about strategies, cheats, and tips for the newest games on the market. And we've had some great memories over the years.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

The attempt to distract ourselves from the fact that at the end of our lives we will enter the void alone.

Cookie for reference.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

Most people I know have cut back on games due to work, social obligations, or other responsibilities. But most of them still do play games at least occasionally. For some, it's the challenge: video games can offer fun and challenging puzzles or competition that are unlike pretty much any other form of entertainment. For others it's the urge to pop some caps in some dudes, which is generally frowned upon otherwise. I know some people who definitely use online games as a way to do something together, which would otherwise be impossible thanks to distance. Gaming is also a relatively cheap form of entertainment for those on a budget, as long as you already have the console. That's one of the main reasons I do it when hanging out with friends -- a day out costs far too much money sometimes.

And then sometimes I just like to pretend I'm Batman.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

Gaming is the woman who will never leave you no matter how long you neglect her. She will always be there for you when you are ready to come back. Never worried, never cheating, gaming is the perfect rebound.
