Personally, I think it will end up being Gravemind. MC and Arbiter are there just because. I think that Cortana will be insane, evil and under Gravemind's control until the very end, when she will do something heroic and save the Earth. Kinda like a Vader/Palpatine thing.

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Five Tenets of Bungie.net Forum Life:
1. Trolls will always be well fed.
2. Blame-ability thy name is stosh.
3. Bungie has no control over retail prices.
4. Watch out for low-flying defense drones.
5. Seven is not optional, but rather, an inevitability.

It seems Cortana's leaning quite a bit into the rampant side of things. I guess the absorbtion of both the first Halo and Delta Halo's information, as well as info from the Covenant flagship and Battle Net during First Strike really messed her up. I think her seven year lifespan has dwindled down quite a bit.

A villain? Perhaps, but most likely forced into it by the Gravemind.

"You must face the truth squarely and without flinching from duty. Our enemies are mortal no longer. Mercy for such as they is a chimera, self-deception is its only ally. Dedicate this weapon, given unto your hand at the behest of the Emperor, to their destruction. Regard its function as your only duty: you live only to bring cleansing fire."

i beleive its cortana, she seems like she is getting a little power hungry unless she is being controled by gravemind

I think that there will be no villans, mainly just misunderstanding, or possibly an ancient evil forrunner machine that has been controlling much of everything the whole time. My vote is on gravemind actually being part good.

but think about this, cortana did not detonate in amber clad, she let gravemidn live. she was in halos computer sytem for wuit a long time too. maybe she knows how to detonate the halos, she could be controlling both the covenant and the flood

I think cortana will actually end up sacrificing herself to save everyone. Her attitude at the end partially implies that.

"I know you....your past....your future...."

Did somebody say "Yoda!"?

I think it's Gravemind. He isn't good at all. He just made it seem that way because if the Halos are activate, since he's a Flood, he's gonna end up starving to death just like them. I think he's actually been in control of some of the people in the story so far. Sorta like a puppetmaster, I believe the term is.

Wha? Who voted MC?

I think that its pretty unlikely for Cortana to be the villan. From the trailer, it doesn't seem to me that she really wants to atack anyone. It seems more like she just considers herself above everyone else and that she is more interested in observing the universe at large than some war.

And at teh end of the day, I dont really care who the villan is, as long as it's not just some sort of random joke villan. Because when it comes to Halo's storyline, I dont think humor has a place.

Now that I think about it, Cortana is probably somewhere inbetween good and evil. She is going through some internal conflict between her core personality, and the infromation she learned from the halos / gravemind, so shes sort of evil half the time and good the other half. Can you say Dr. Jeckel / Mr. Hyde?

Crap, right after i posted this, I saw the col ackerson thing.

I think you may be right.

Perhaps it's Cortana.

However, because I reckon that it would be terribly amusing if the latter was the villain, I voted for MC.
