Subject: Earth had NOT been taken over.

"It is the Chief, back on a devastated and Covenant controlled Earth, standing over the excavation of a structure buried in the crust of our own planet that is the meat of our demo."

No one seems to get it, in the Halo 2 trailer, did the ships attack Master Chief? NO!

this thread is full of so many retards that its ridicules

With all due respect, considering the amount of time and effort it took to finally get the Arbiter to come to terms with being on the same side as the Chief. I highly doubt such a concept is/was so quickly received by the rest of the Elite race - especially considering the Arbiter isn't exactly on the best terms with the Covenant in the first place (mark of shame anyone?).

So, looking back, I really doubt that an entire fleet was on the Chief's side. Looks like they just had the religious blinders on.

From Bungie's Announcment News:

this trailer might be for Halo 3, but the game's main protagonist is the item that seals that deal. CJ explains, "It is the Chief, back on a devastated and Covenant controlled Earth, standing over the excavation of a structure buried in the crust of our own planet that is the meat of our demo."

Yes but the symbol of being the Arbiter is big to the Covenant and the Covenant Civil War could have also turned some Elites over. Also remeber that many Elites were present at the end of Halo 3 when Guilty Spark expalined what the Halos were for...

But you could be right and you make a good point.

Yea, you're right in that there will probably be at least a handful of Elites at the end of H2 that will be willing to accept the facts. I'm just reluctant to think that so many minds would be able to be changed in such a short amount of time (even if we assume that teaser occurs near the end of H3's plot).

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Well i doubt Earth has been taken over as the covenant seem to look for one thing and ignore everything else, they didn't need earth, just new mombasa. On the other hand, i doubt there will be any reinforcements as the Humans knew about the covenants pending attack before it came...so that would've been their reinfrocements. I do think that the arbiter has reached earth and had something to do with the ships turning back as well.

Just as a question, every major character has been mentioned, except they psychic plant (Gravemind) what happened to it? Also, this question has been bugging me for a while, where are all the heavy weapons that we have today? Where are the F-117s, the Warships, the F-22 Raptors? Mines? Napalm? Did we throw things away? Because all of those would be effective gainst air and land units...

This is my interpretation of the video, feel free to spit all over it. As far as Cortana goes, I think she is in some way being influenced by gravemind, as she was left alone with him on high charity, and I doubt an AI would speak in metaphors like she did. Gravemind loved metaphors. The Chief didn't really seem to be in a hurry if you noticed. I suspect he either realizes there is little he can do as he is on foot or that he's waiting on something to happen and he's just going to watch it unfold. maybe both. As for the Covanent ships not attacking him, it wouldn't be the first time they ignored his presence, besides whats he going to do on foot? Call me crazy, but it looked to me like the ships were just moving out of the way when the forrunner thing opened up. (maybe they didn't expect it to activate?) By the way the forrunner thing looked exactly like another complex on Halo 2 but I can't remeber what it was called. Its big and in the background of the halo as you play the Arbitor on one level. Plus, one of the articles in the H3 Q.A. said Halo fans would recognize it.
Oh and all bungies talk about this being the last Halo and all makes it sound like The chief is going to die at the end of this one. Most likely a self-sacrafice. Can you imagine a more honorable way for a Spartan? Oh one more thing, I don't think brutes can fit in banshees, but Then I was suprised to see a grunt pilot a ghost too, so who knows.

Everyone thinks earth has been taken over

Am I the only one that thinks' those ships' were controled by Elite's? Think about the arbter Said he was going to the arc Well if the humans ARE the forunners That dome could be the arc so he took the Elite fleet to earth?

Also like he said Woulden't those ships (And banshees' attack John)? Not if the were earth's allies HUH!
They probably didn't see the spartan and couldn't pick him up on their sensors either because they had all their attention on the Forrunner structure.

So why did Bungie, themselves, say it was taken over. Are you saying you know more about Halo 3 than Bungie?

Why are some of you so retarded? If you even bothered to read what Bungie has said about Halo 3 you'd see that the Earth IS taken over and that they are in Africa. Also. there is no proof that New Mombasa has anything to do with the artifact. They only relation I can see is that New Mombasa is in Africa.

well that is the covenant and they activated the ark i dsont think the prohet cares about one demon compared to becoming a god and if personly wouldnt care cuz its not like he has a portaable nuke launcher so he cant take doewn all the covie flagships in the backround aslo the ark activates all the halo rings why would you want to activate it thast suicide...

most of the covenant do not seem to realize what the halo rings do.and if they were trying to gon on the "geat journey" why would they turn and run when it begins to activate.

they dont turn and run for starters they are pushed back by the massive air movement and ground shaking caused by the artifact opening and secondly do you not see the giant blast thats about to happen/

This is quoted from the announcement...

The Cortana reveal is the first evidence that this trailer might be for Halo 3, but the game's main protagonist is the item that seals that deal. CJ explains, "It is the Chief, back on a devastated and Covenant controlled Earth, standing over the excavation of a structure buried in the crust of our own planet that is the meat of our demo."

Yeah but what does he know.... If the earth was controlled I dont' think Admril Hood would still have been alive or up on that Orbital MAC.... unless we get another brilliant novel telling how the thing landed... chief fought fought fought..... 3 days later after careful digging the chief wonders up to the canyon and.... theres the artifact

Hopefully that made some sense

*rofl*

I like how we have one guy whose sole job is to design the Chief's visor.
I bet it's the envy of the guy who designs the Chief's ass plate.

The reason the cov did not shoot at the chief is because theres some huge commosion going on in front of them.... and they are on escourt duty... if something fires they'll fire back but they are not looking, nor expecting, enemies....

  • 05.10.2006 8:20 PM PDT

Well I know that the covenant in those ships were Master chiefs enemies. Remember the end of halo 2 when all the ships were taking over earth and the Master chief was in the Prophet of Truth's ship? Even if there were some elites on the MC's side, the loyal covenant would attack and kill them instantly
