RC Clone is the anti-thesis of a lurker.

Your positions for A and B are both incorrect.

So having your shot not go where your reticle is pointing at with a precision weapon is better than having it land where you're aiming? Hmmm...
What?

Bloom is the dynamic expansion of the reticle.
The bullet will travel any where inside the reticle.
If the reticle "blooms" then the reticle gets bigger.
If the reticle gets bigger, the less accurate the shot maybe.
If the target does not take up the full space of the aiming reticle, then the shot may miss.

Bloom is just like spread with the exception of the reticle getting larger the faster you fire.

If you think bloom is random, then by the same though, you must think spread is random. Both, in the sense the bullet will travel anywhere inside the reticle.

But bloom and Spread ARE both random.

The only difference is when Bungie used spread it didn't affect combat at 10 feet range.

So 10 feet is a magic proportion now? Without bloom, centering the reticle over an opponent's head at long range with the magnum can still miss. It is not written anywhere that a gun is perfectly accurate according to its sights. In a video game, the degree of detail and space has been elevated to the point that pinpoint accuracy is a skill instead of a given. (Super Mario Bros fireball-->hits anything in front of you, no need to aim). Now, video games are able to recognize the subtle variations of where the bullets are going to travel, and making you bullets hit the target becomes a challenge.

Part of the challenge involves the idea that the space in the reticle occupied by the bullet becomes steadily smaller as the distance to the target increases. At ten feet, you're aiming for the side of a barn. At a distance, you need to pace your shots and recognize that the game is becoming powerful enough to MIMIC HOW A GUN ACTUALLY WORKS. I'm sorry that so many people feel that the idea of bloom has betrayed their fragile video-game sensibilities, but in-game weapons are resembling real weapons on an increasing scale, including factors such as bloom.

Opinions are like butholes. Everyone's got one, nobody wants to hear about it.

I'm with player B.

Bloom was a good idea, but it was executed poorly.

Player B.

You have to be a retard if you think bloom adds skill. and lolRealisim in a videogame

Player A responds: ok first off bloom does add skill because anyone could be good with a BR, but only pros could be good with a DMR. think really hard about it.

This post makes me want to slit my wrists. The Battle Rifle - even if I dislike it - took skill. Even I can use the DMR.

Player A is a moron. Player B is correct.

If Halo is only catered to the competitive player it would probably loss revenue and be put on the book shelf. Zero Bloom is not the answer and Halo in general should somehow find a balance to cater to both. The industry is enormous and it all boils down to $$$$$.

Reach is 100% perfect, and the single most competitive game since Candyland. Anyone who dares question the godly powers of Bungie is obviously just bad at Halo.

This isn't even an argument. Shooting slowly isn't exactly the epitome of all skill, and it's been proven that choosing the pace at which you are to shoot is in large part a guess, no matter how good you think you are.

I think 343 found a decent way to do that. Zero bloom, 4 shot kills, etc. for the MLG playlist, and n00b stuff for every other playlist

Two makes there more than speakers.

Player B.
Skill isn't relying on chance to kill an enemy.
Realism=/=Good gameplay mechanic.

  • 12.30.2011 12:30 PM PDT

Lol

Anything that adds any kind of realism will create randomness, because real life is most of the time random.

  • 12.30.2011 12:30 PM PDT

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

lol realism

Seriously, stop that.

chances are I don't care who you are or what you say.

oversimplified and this has been talked about 1,000,000 times before -___-

Want a cool clan? Join FRAG!

Want a war sim? The best war sim in Halo, Forerunner Conflict.

I'm player B. If this was a perfect world, idiots like player A wouldn't exist.

Number 1, bloom isn't realistic. It's meant to represent recoil, and does so in a horrible way. Last I checked, bullets went where the barrel was pointing, correct? According to bloom however, your bullets will shoot off in unpredictable directions if you don't pace. Why game developers don't just add recoil is beyond my understanding.

Number 2, bloom doesn't add any skill. It is far too random to add any level of skill. Bullets should go where you fire.

  • 12.30.2011 12:40 PM PDT

Whether we like it or not the game was built around the bloom mechanic. You can't just take it out and not break something.

I hope no-bloom works out for MLG. I don't want to see Halo eliminated from their line-up.

I'm for whatever is best for the longevity of the series.

I don't mind 85% bloom. Bloom is good enough for Pistola and Ogre 2 so who am I to disagree?

TU no bloom is so easy. That's why this clip isn't special at all in any way.

OP does this in MLG all the time.

Hey...that hurts. I try really hard to be just like Walshy :(

The 343 forums suck. They're full of retarded kids and mods who got butthurt in the B.net forums for being told that they're bad.

Realism doesn't belong in games. When I play a game, it's because I want to escape reality, not to be put into a different version of it.

Exactly. Real life sucks. Games are there to flee into a more interesting world.

It's not so much that my life SUCKS, but there are things that I am not allowed to do due to laws and such. Also, college is stressful, and I dislike alcohol and parties, so there isn't much else for me to do.

Anyway the point is that realism is meant for reality.

  • 12.30.2011 3:23 PM PDT

Player B obviously.

Bloom adds nothing but a game of roll the dice. Who wants that?
