Subject: The Arbiter on Legendary

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

Last night and this morning I played through this level twice on easy and twice in normal.

This morning, I played this level on Heroic, and after a few deaths I succeeded. The noob combo is how I did it.

Then I tried it on legendary, and to my surprise I got quite near the end, to the bit where the Heretic Leader escapes in a Banshee behind the glass. But this is where the grunts and the elites just kick my ass. I always hide under the ramp, and emerge only briefly to headshot the grunts, but the elites have me flanked, when I try to noob combo one the other will get me.

So, to anyone here, in particular Sliding Ghost because he knows a lot about strategies, do you know a way to get past this?

I'm only ping this mission because it's my favourite mission in the game, as well as The Oracle, but Im not ready to ake on the Flood on Heroic or Legendary just yet

Yes, I AM just that awesome.

By your spelling, I'm guessing that you're European and therefore using a PAL box. So you can sword lunge the glass on the Arbiter to get the 'shee quicker. So when you get in the 'shee, turn right and look for where you would end up if you went the whole route, boost to there, and jump out when you're in front of the door to trigger the cutscene.

I use double needlers but I stay back and use the door in order to take out the Sentinels first. Then I run in to get the Grunts and Elites coming and then I run back out that door. Cloak, open door, shoot, then close door. Have a stash of needlers in that room behind the door and you'll have no problem.

An Xbox used outside of the NTSC region (America and Japan, maybe some of the surrounding areas).

I always run up and use sword on that level. But this was after much time of practicing the proper way to use a sword effectively. I suggest using double neeedlers or a carbine. What BouncedMr Happyy said should be correct also.

There are differences (subtle differences nowadays, but still differences) between NTSC and PAL. All you have to do is go up to the Heretic leader until your sword reticule is red, and press the right trigger, you should lunge through the glass and get a banshee earlier.

Just to be clear, are you talking about 360s or original Xboxes?

Honorable mention. >3

But unfortunately, I don't have strategies for The Arbiter. I never played it legitimately. It is the only level that I haven't done without mods. I can try it though but it'll take me some time. I might end up getting distracted over one part... hangar battle. *shudders*

What mods did you use?

Yeah.

Other than invincibility for me and my allies, mostly Banshee mods: super speed, hover ability, fuel rod gun firing rate + faster projectile speed.

Cool
10x more fun than Reach's space battle. I made it so that the plasma bolts were like sniper bullets so I could destroy Banshees within seconds.

Due to my Arbiter AI collection tests, I now have some knowledge of how The Arbiter works.

To have a significantly easier time, you must be stealthy.

If you assassinate the 2 heretic Elites you encounter at the beginning and leave the heretic Grunts alone, then you can go down the elevator with no resistance.

If you kill your allies, the heretic Elite won't be patrolling.

In the hangar, assassinate the closest Elite, shoot the Sentinels with carbine, then take out the other one and then the next group. There are a lot of plasma pistols on this level. If you have time, hoard them. You can do so until you reach the loading point, after which, some will disappear until you retrigger the previous area.

When confronted with sleeping Grunts, don't melee them. The lunge interferes and you'll just end up waking them up (this could be only in H2 Vista). Leave them for last.

Once you get to the Banshees, just go into the room where Oracle starts.

Speedrunning looks great and all and might have that exciting feel, but once it's done, it's done. Plus, reaching perfection is a pain in the ass. It probably took these people a million tries to get it right.

I don't know about Grumpy but I like doing things slow because I get to enjoy it. I also get plenty of opportunity to observe and jot things down. As a result, I found a safe route for Uprising SLASO:

With Blind
No Blind

I gave up on Metropolis though because of the damn seemingly infinite spawns. The tunnel is one major chokepoint and only people like MisterMonopoli can get a hog past that part.

This Mythic run (not done by me) is a fine example of slow and steady.
