Subject: The Arbiter on Legendary

Yes, I AM just that awesome.

Speedrunning looks great and all and might have that exciting feel, but once it's done, it's done. Plus, reaching perfection is a pain in the ass. It probably took these people a million tries to get it right.
On segmented runs it takes people a million tries to get it right, but that's what's good about it, perfection. You know that this is the best you can do right now, but the time will come to try it again due to more tricks. Single segments usually only take a couple of test runs before the final run.

I don't know about Grumpy but I like doing things slow because I get to enjoy it.
Runners don't just jump into a level and start speedrunning. There's plenty of time to enjoy it while you're working on a trick that could save either 20 seconds or even 3 seconds.

I still don't see the enjoyment in getting a perfect result after hours of frustration. My work on Oracle, Metropolis, CS, GJ, and Uprising + SC, AotCR, Two Betrayals, and The Maw was mostly a pain in the ass. It was only when I slowed down a bit that it became pleasant.

Not only am I biased against Reach, but I don't have much of a thing for speedruns, as impressive as they are.

I take it the only way to do this level is speed running then
No, I never speedrun.
Slowpoke.
I may be old, I may be a slowpoke...wait, what was that third thing?

I have ultimate respect for the speedrunners, the greatest players on the planet eventually wind up at HSH. I'm just not one of them.

That is likewise for the tricksters. Without High Impact Halo there would be no High Speed Halo. I believe HSH's first URL was highspeedhalo.highimpacthalo.org. Without HIH we would probably still be going the full way through Keyes (and most of us are because we don't have the power that scurty has) instead of the shield bump into the Big Ball of Keyes' room.

Then I guess I judged you wrong.

If speedrunners can respect trickers and the like, then I can respect speedrunners. It's just too bad that tricking and speedrunning aren't always in the same category. What would happen if they were merged? Now that would be an interesting result.

High Impact + High Speed =

Highly Explosive Halo?
High Octane Halo?

How I wish there would be a speedrun having elements from tricking (the methodical kind). CS's hangars and bomb room would be the best parts to watch and admire.

This level was fairly easy on Legendary I thought, no difficult parts come to mind if you're stealthy (Sliding Ghost has the right idea). I found the most annoying levels to be The Oracle (Fighting the Heretic Leader can be annoying at times) and Gravemind (I had a very annoying checkpoint at one point where I was going down the grav lift to the holding cells and the two brutes at the beginning were always alert to my position and could kill me before i even set foot on the ground)

Oh, and the infamous Cairo Station but that's alright if you're patient. Halo 2's all about patience and being careful in my opinion. I do have to say though, I don't think i'd stand a chance on LASO unless I have permanent camo... :/

The level may be easier, but needlers and carbines are the equivalent of extremely annoying and not fun to fight. Likewise, Uprising: only Brutes and Jackals.

Covie Loyalists, Flood, and Heretics are rarely fun to fight unless they have panicking Grunts with them, which is rarely the case.

If you think LASO is tough, wait until you try tricking. There are so many BS deaths that can happen to you. They exceed the bs deaths of SLASO.

For example, I'm trying to bring a Spectre into the control room. It flips, it gets stuck, I try everything I can to get it upright, and then -blam!-, I get splattered.

Another example. I'm trying to setup forts with supply cases on The Arbiter for a battle with a huge number of Heretics. I try to reposition a supply case to deal with a gap that AI can slip through. I melee and then -blam!-, splatter.

The BS physics are far worse than dealing with 20 cloaked sword wielding Mythic enhanced Ultra Elites. I wish they had Cowbell skull in H2. Sputnik is a bit too much for this kind of work. It's more suited for jumps. I've splattered myself so many times I'm going to have to resort to mods. :( I only managed 1 time to get a perfect setup with most of the Heretics alive but I didn't get the cp that comes with the black bars.

Ah yes, the old getting splattered by something you are trying to move. I have had that happen more times that I can count on CE, flipping vehicles, and H2 moving boxes with a sword and sputnick on. Sometimes the world just aint fair!

To the OP:

If you dont go into the room where you see the Heretic Leader get into the banshee WITH a carbine and dual needlers you wont make it to your banshee. The grunts that you killed in the room prior had needlers, so there is your re-stock ammo, but you have to come into the place fully loaded. Use the doorway to fire from and duck back to cover when needed. Use the carbine on the grunts, and save the needlers for the sentinels and the elites. The grunts out there have needlers and if you try to exchange needle fire with them they will almost always kill you first. Headshots with the carbine my friend, or body shots as you duck in and out of the doorway. Once the grunts are dead, take out the sentinels, as the elites typically hang back (big fraidy cats!). No sentinel can withstand dual needlers. Most of hte time you will have to cloak and assassinate the elites. ONce they are the only ones left, cloak, move out to find their positions and get back to the doorway cover before your cloak expires. Once you know their positions you can cloak, move to close cover and then recloak, jump up to their spots and take one out. ONce one is down, the other is not to tough.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.
