Subject: Anyone notice this in the trailer?

Posted by: halo_fan90
The fall damage was only in the multiplayer. And who wants to fall off a cliff even if you could survive it. Plus he wanted a better view of the show :)

No fall damage was in both Multiplayer and Singleplayer. Otherwise, falling from high heights in the Singleplayer would definitely hurt you at least, but it was just like the Multiplayer in the fact that it didn't phase MC.

I know if I fell off of a cliff I knew that I would survive it, I would do it. :P

I think BigGinFan may be on to something here....

You may be on to something there. Bungie must be secretly putting the Halo 1 weapons back in the game, but we've figured out their secret. BigGinFan was a genius in the fact that he figured out fall damage was back.

I wonder if they'll add any new weapons now that they'll have so many.

Hasen't anyone remembered in Halo 2 that when you died when you fell down a river like in Delta Halo?(It would also damage his armor a lot if he fell down a really high cliff)

Ok while watching the trailer I noticed something that will drastically change Halo 3. At precisely 1:43 part of the cliff in front of Masterchief falls off. You may be thinking what does this have to do with a change so I'll point it out. When the cliff falls Chief backs up advisedly to avoid falling off the cliff. If fall damage was still off like in Halo 2, he wouldn't have to worry about falling, but instead he backs up to avoid falling. So I have concluded that fall damage has been added to Halo 3. Please share why you agree with me because by no means should anyone disagree with this post. Thank you and please stay drug and alcohol free. And please use condoms.

Yeah, or he is using common sense. I'm sure that he'll jump down there in a moment, but for now, he's probably debating whether or not he will be of any use down there. Remember: the Covenant ships are backing away from the structure, indicating that: 1) something is wrong 2) the initiation was not intentional. Since these ships are starting to break and run (remember, Covenant don't break and run... at least not the disciplined ones...), it is logical to conclude that the Chief is debating whether or not he should make a run for it too.

I think he backed up because the image of the Chief standing atop the cliff when the arc activates is very powerful as opposed to him jumping down the cliff and walking 400 miles to a Forerunner structure. Do not read so much from the a cinematic trailer, it is fun to speculate, but it's there to be watched like a movie not played like a game.

Has anyone read the books? The Spartans make a frickin' orbital drop in nothing but their Mjolnir armor! In light of that, I doubt fall damage is making it back in. Shame, but it just wouldn't make sense. "I can make an orbital drop, but I can't fall a twenty feet off a -blam!- cliff!"

Hmmmm. Well I hope now with the changes announced at E3 that the health and mana for Chief are pretty high to begin with. It would suck trying to cast Dick Trickle 2 with no mana!

Yea, but I'm thinking Bungie might make Dick Trickle cost a huge amount of mana because it's such a powerful spell. Maybe MC will gain levels quickly though, so that players can quickly get this awesome spell.

Notice I said Dick Trickle 2. Even though they announced that Fire 3 would be the most powerful elemental spell, Ia m pretty sure Bungie will make Dick Trickle stronger.

alright if the chief would have fallen off the cliff in the trailer that would have been absolutley retarded. i mean he would have fallen then that would have been the end of the trailer. they made him back up because why in the hell would he wnat to fall regardless of if he would take fall damage or not. think before you speak. OH MY GOD HE BACKED UP THERE MUST BE FALL DAMAGE NOW!!! no. shutup.

I think the reason he backed up was beacuse there would be NO -blam!- point in showing him falling off a cliff in a trailer.BUT thats just my humble opinion

OK here is a new twist to the halo 3 controversy.

Halo 3 to be MMORPGFPS/Action-Adventure?

Many surprises have been unearthed today, but the most significant may be what we found out while hold a private press conference with Bungie. We asked if the game would have the same feel as the first two and Bungie replied with "We are trying to keep the same feel to the game, but this will be an excruciating task. We have decided to make Halo 3: World of Halo include elements from Online Role Playing Games as well as First Person Shooters. We hope to make this change smoothly so that our fans are very pleased with the final product."

We will have more on this as we uncover more of this surprising revelation.
