What a baseless speculation...Whether it was intended or not, the action was cinematic and added suspense to the clip.

mc probably thought about this extensively in light speed, decided that although it would be fun to ride the rock down while testing the theories of bugs bunny physics, the covenant ships around him, even though he did it purposefully, would likely assume it was a accident cause why would anyone fall down a cliff (damage resistance or not), and think he is falable even though we all know he is not. so basically mc backed up to save himself the time of going around to each of those covy ships and kicking the cr4p out of everyone onboard. duh

That does not mean that they are adding fall damage in Halo 3 because in Halo 2 you still can die by falling off a high cliffs!

Hail to the Victors! Reppin' that MAIZE n BLUE!!!
Perfect Grenade
Chill bro. Gotta get my bowl.

Dumbest.. idea.. ever.

Even if they did implement fall damage back in, that wasn't their way of showing us.

He would still die from falling off of a massive cliff.

Well, BUngie said that the map Hang Em High is only good when fall damage is on, and Hang Em High was rumored to be brought back for Halo 3, so I don't see a reason why not.

Nope. First of all, he backed away for the purpose of adding effect to the trailer. Second of all, he wouldn't want to fall down there because the shock wave would kill him.

Oooooor, that MC like any other normal person backs up when the ground you are standing on falls away? Thousands of feet down?

You die in Halo 2 when you fall more than the levels allow. It's realistic, not a "sign."

exactly

Did you see the first lighting bolt strike pixel 789x800? This means that coagulation will now be named Gaping Wound.

dude no.. just because he backs up doesnt mean there will be no fall damage... its a cinematic not actual gameplay. yes they may add it but this is BY FAR NO PROOF AT ALL!

I don't think it has anything to do with fall damage. It's just when a cliff falls, he backs up for dramatic effect. It could mean that MC won't be as in charge as he use to be. Things are happening to him that he has no control over, making this his, expectedly, his biggest challenge.

I think anyone that thinks they can determine fall damage being on or off based on that is the biggest sack of festering rabbit turd. EVER! Oh and by the way, the 20 or so people that said their was falling damage in Halo 2 is correct. Also, there was falling damage in Halo 2 that does not kill you. In Outskirts, when you get ontop of the buildings in teh courtyard, if you jump from JUST the right height, you can lose shield, but not die. Not that that really matters here though.

Oh, and that joke about teh lightning bolt - GREAT

Maybe he just didn't want to get too close to the huge ancient alien artifact that was opening up, quite violently, as the shock wave that came from it is what caused the cliff he was on to crumble away.

But fall damage coming back would be cool too!

"Puttem Down"

orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr CRAZY I KNOW. maybe it was for Dramatic Purposes. I know I know it may seem crazy but they might have put it in there becuase noone would want to fall down that big thing when that gigantic wave of hurt was comming at him. Yea the fall wouldnt hurt him but im pretty damn sure that seismac wave would have!

Fall Damage was only taken off in multiplayer, if you fell off in campaign then you would die or get damaged, unless thats a multiplayer map(doubt it) then u are stupid, but that is smart

  • 05.11.2006 2:28 PM PDT

yes but the was kind of 'fall damage' in halo 2 only it was instant death instead of damage. when ur falling for too long u die. and the cliff in the trailer looks pretty tall so, MC doesn't really wanna meet the devil/god just yet...lol
