Disclaimer: I am an avid fan and love Halo CE and Halo 2. Despite what I recognized as shortcomings and/or absences from both games, I recognize what they did for both FPS and gamers in general.

That being said, the one thing that was distinctly lacking from both games what the feel of a struggle. I mean, bottom line; this is humanity's last stand, and now we see (and have confirmation) that Halo 3 will take place (for some of the time) on a Covenant controlled Earth.

We have what many of us assume is Col. Ackerson's betrayal; we have Dr. Halsey on some rogue mission with Kelly; we have mankind driven from its homeworld; we have Col. Ackerson's Spartan III program. Finally, I feel like instead of wise cracking marines we're going to get a dark, mysterious, and overall terryifying game. I want to be able to sit in the dark and feel nervous, afraid, shocked, appalled, etc. by what happens. And I think it will.

Regardless of the rumors and speculation on Cortana's message, the one thing that this trailer gave us was a glimpse of what the game is going to feel like. Epic. Terrifying. Shocking. All the emotions that make up quality game and even movie experiences.

I hope that the game will take at least fifty to sixty hours to beat. I want a long and detailed storyline, something to the order of an RPG. Even if that doesn't happen I suspect that we're not going to have the "comedic relief" of the marines. Expect something much darker. It's about time.

If your expecting a 60 hour epic romp you'll be sorely disappointed. I'd say it'll make 25 tops, assuming you die alot. It's still a game, a FPS at that. Overhypings a bad idea, it'll never live up to what you expect in your mind.

the graphics will multiply the fear and darkness that would be portrayed, think about it. seeing ships in the distamnce with dark clouds looming overhead...sick - can't wait.

Yes, I toatly agree.

I personaly love games where you have your backs agiants the wall.

Maybe why I loved freedom fighters so much, but once agian I agree, the story looks to be awesome.

I hope we see human settlements that really feel makeshift.

Id really like to see some -blam!- elements added. We all know Cortana and Chief "play" when the cameras are off. So why not put it in? Maybe adding some -blam!- scenes will keep smaller children away from the game as well.

basicly what i wanted to say...with all that important grammer and spelling that i would have left out. I think you're right though, it should feel more like a lord of the rings movie then a game (not detials but in the epic struggle...ness). very nice post

oh ya, icantfindaname, off the subject but a good thing to add to your sig would be having annoying 11 year olds yelling "i pwned you n00b!!!" at you the whole time....just thought that would bring out the "special level of hell" experience...

Yeah, i'd love a feeling of a darker fate. The thing Halo 2 was missing the most was the sense that you were part of something bigger, and that while the master cheif is a super-soldier, he's not a god; he's still just one man.
And about the marines, i say let them keep their attitudes. Bungie pissed off real marines in Halo CE 'cause of the marines' attitudes, and that was pretty sweet to piss off a marine. And, anyways, the marines are one of the things that made Halo so popular and unique. Their flagrant personalities are what set them apart for the rest of the FPS games out there.
