This will be the third transition of my inital post.
First it was made 1 month after Halo 2's release at the now under new management Sector 7.
Then I posted it about 1 year ago on RvB.
Now here.
This is the most famous theory on the RvB website, so I'd love to see what you guys think. (quoted word for word)

http://rvb.roosterteeth.com/forum/viewTopic.php?id=2166006

"The following is a theory I posted on the website Sector 7. I posted this about one month after Halo 2's release, but I thought I'd run it by you guys again. My origional post can be found in a link at the bottom, but I ask you to please read this version first.

After thousands of careful calculations (well, really just staring at the blank screen after I beat Halo 2, in betrayal) I've come to the following conclusion. Humans are, or were the forerunners. I've sort of thought this ever since I read the Halo books, and beat the original halo, but now I have great proof from beating Halo 2.

In no real order, just as I remember them, this is my proof...

A: In the first Halo, if you read the book, it says how Master Chief could, and still can find out the right button to push on the control panels of Halo, just from knowing, but not understanding why.

B: Humans have developed self sufficient AI, stuff on par with the forerunners, and in some ways, very similar. Like how Guilty Spark is so whimsical, and joking towards the beginning, like Cortana, both of them exhibit human characteristics, but unlike the only Covenant AI we ever see.

C: When the first Halo was going to be fired, Guilty Spark had to choose a reclaimer, however, THE ONLY TWO RECLAIMERS HE CHOOSE WERE HUMANS. Why no Elites?

D: The second biggest planet that we inhabited was Reach, which just happened to have a VERY important Forerunner artifact on it.

E: When the Covenant came to earth, they sent a VERY small fleet, only about 14 ships. They said it in the game themselves; THEY DIDN'T EXPECT US TO BE THERE.

F: They sent a HIGH PROPHET to retrieve what they thought could be on earth, that shows that earth was a VERY IMPORTANT Forerunners spot, and guess what? That’s where are HOME PLANET is.

G: They only landed ground troops in one spot in the entire world, this one spot also just happens to be the cradle of man kind, Africa.

H: When the index was being retrieved by the Arbiter, Tarturus, three or so brutes, and Keys's daughter, Guilty Spark asked ONLY THE HUMAN, if she was the reclaimer or not.

EI: When asked where the ultimate firing room for the Halos was, it immediately cut into a picture of earth.

MY BEST POINT: The firing device is called The Ark. In the bible, Noah's Ark is what saved all the animals in the world, from extinction, and what continued their species. In fact, the very definition of the word has some interesting tie-ins.

Pronunciation: 'ärk
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Old English arc, from Latin arca chest; akin to Latin arcEre to hold off, defend, Greek arkein, Hittite hark- to have, hold
1 a : a boat or ship held to resemble that in which Noah and his family were preserved from the Flood b : something that affords protection and safety
2 a : the sacred chest representing to the Hebrews the presence of God among them b : a repository traditionally in or against the wall of a synagogue for the scrolls of the Torah

The definition of the word implies that it was also some kind of protection, and safety vessel. Also notice how the ark from the bible was used to preserve Noah from the FLOOD, just a coincidence?

Guilty Spark said Halo was fired once, and the Forerunners were killed when it went off. But, there is an Ark, which is supposedly on earth. So we can pretty surely presume that this ark is what the Covenant were looking for. They were looking for it in Africa. Again, where man kind started.

My theory is that this ark had two purposes, to keep the Forerunner race alive (save them from complete extinction), and to have a uni-trigger for all Halos

My first post."

Ok, I'm a halo fan boy and well I don't tlk much, but I have almost everything Halo and I have seen alot. first off I agree that the ark is a deadly weapon, but not a weapon itself, you have to think clearly and listen to the characters. in the first one sparky, which I call Guilty Spark, say that halo is a way on eliminating the flood mian food source, and after all of the forerunners attempts, they needed to activate the halos. In, halo 2, now this was the kicker people so pay attention, when MC and Arbiter meet with Gravemind, Cortana asked what is he, and he replys "I am the atomment of all your sin" or something like that but basiclly I think he ws saying tht he was a creation of the forerunners that becames its own, the and in a attempt, the forerunners attempted to wipe it out by killing themselves in a way, but there was one factor, the ark, was to preserve little bit of their society and furture, but leave the tech behind, scattered for them to find when they come to the. right age of being, the jsut never thought other beings would evolve as well fter some time, aka the covenant. On'e kick to this that I also picked up was what the first link in the trailer, hich, along with Cortana's voice you also hear Gravemind's, and what they say is "I have Deified Gods and Demons".

It's a good theory but most of this stuff was conjectured within the first year of Halo CE. Also within a matter of hours after the release I heard the other part refering to Maranda Keys. Anyways have a good night.

I've had this theory for the longest time. It only makes sense, the ark, the flood, the Cheif being familiar with forerunner structures.
The queation is if the Covenant realize it yet.

The Sentinel Beam isn't excluded from Matchmaking due to any performance concerns. It's excluded because it's ridiculous. It may as well be firing super-accelerated clowns. - Shishka

What if they realized that we are their gods? Would sure change things woouldn't it?

Ah HA!

Alright, in the trailer, the banshees don't attack MC, correct? Here's why: In this part of the story, the covenant have found out that MC is basically their God, so they instantly side with him, yet there is a rogue group of covenant lead by Truth who still wish to activate Halo, which is why the covenant fleets were heading toward the structure, but turn away when it gets activated.

I'm a friggin' genius.

Yes, but until Halo 2 came out there simply wasn't enough evidence to responsibly make this claim.

"Yes, but until Halo 2 came out there simply wasn't enough evidence to responsibly make this claim. "

yeah there was lol!

in halo: combat evolved.. guilty spark says loads of little hints.

he says summit liek "yo only have a mark two combat suit, a mark 8 is required" (considers MC's tech to be that of forunner).
"ba bla bla, i am gald some of them survived to reproduce" he was refering to the forunner in the quote.
and then that part "you remember when you first activated the ring, and asked me if i were to do it, well bla bla" he speaks to teh MC as if he was one of the origonal people to turn on the rings.

sorry about the quote inadequacy, i dont really know them to the word =/

Yes, but the evidence wasn't all that great. Sure gulity spark said some crap, but in the months following halo's release:
*The books were not out yet.
*Halo 2 hadn't been released.

With out this...you can't really do more than puzzle sparks coments.

Perhaps that's the reason the Prophets are so intent on destroying humanity, if the rest of the Covenant were to find out, their radical religious training would cause them to follow Humanity instead of the Prophets, and they would lose their power. After Truth's display of rampant disregard for the lives of the other Prophet (Mercy was it?), its quite clear that they are interested in the power they hold, much more so than the lives of their comrades.

i already had a feeling that Humans were...descendants of the Forerunners. however. the Ark is a remote activation for the Halo's...so...does this mean that the people on Earth were far enough away to survive the blast from the Halo's? that would only make sense to say, because the we are the descendants of the Forerunners that dwelt here on Earth. and with that said...if the Covenant are coming here to use the remote activation? Why would they? it wouildnt make sense, if we survived the first blast from being far enough away, what's not to say that the Human race, and the Covanent that are on Earth at the time of remote activation [if the ends up happening] won't survive the blast. i can picture it now. the prophet activates the Ark, holds up his hands in some sort of religious acceptance. waiting for the end...and it never comes. because he is too far away from the blasts.

Also, what would cause humanity to forget their Forerunner descent? Why would the Forerunner's want to forget the Flood if it were so dangerous, as well as Halo, and the technology to stop it? Maybe they didn't have a choice as to whether or not they'd lose their technology, but the memories?

However, if humanity were not the Forerunners, but instead a project of the Forerunner's kept within the Ark for the time being while the Halo's went off, this could make sense. What reminded me of this possibility was the Xel'Naga from Starcraft, if anyone took the time to read the whole manual, they would know that the Xel'Naga would go from place to place trying to create the ultimate race, and then watch them, moving on after failure. They created the Flood, perhaps they created Humanity, but never went down to show themselves or their technology, and so desperate to keep some remnants of their civilization alive, they buried humans deep within the Halo-resistant ark, that they survived the blast. This would explain the lack of memories of the flood, and the technology, while also explaining why we seem to be so Forerunner like and have such similar structure/technology.

Great theories
They all sound good and feasable. It would be a good story line for halo 3 to tell that humans are the decendants of the forerunners

Hm, yeah sounds pretty plausible. I would say that humans are an evolved form of the Forerunners (Note: this does not mean we are superior). I think the Ark could be one of two things...

First, it could be a spaceship that could take us so far away so fast that we would escape the blast radius of the detonating Halos. This would allow the Forerunners to escape the Flood and still survive.

Two, it could be a kind of time capsule that could survive the blast from the Halos.

Either way, I think the Halos will blow up and destroy the galaxy, leaving only a remnant who survived by getting in the Ark.

Question 1 - Could the Flood survive by stealing a Covenant spaceship and warping into hyperspace while the Halo explosion goes by?

Theory - The Ark is a kind of seed. After the Halos detonate and wipe out the galaxy, the Ark will fly through space shooting down onto planets the beginnings of a new species. This is why Humans and the other aliens are in realitvely the same technological era.

Good theory... i have one also...

all the rings are round, with holes through the middle... and they can all shoot beams through them correct?

so what if the arc made all them line up, then they connected whaile the arc opend.. then the arcs white light ( which could possible be e beam ) shoots through them activateing something....

it seems to fit so perfect... what do you think guys?
