I just came from spending 45 minutes watching a Jumpr's speed run on Reach (the wrld record one?). Anyway, is it my imagination or was that not really a Halo game? This is the first time I had seen anything Reach, and several things struck me:

1- It was all business, I did love the chatter in the headset radio, that was fun to listen to, and very diff than CE or H2

2- There was virtually no sense of humor at all in the dialogue. The fun of CE and H2 is the dialogue, and it was like this was from a different universe.

3- The covies didnt even look like covies in alot of ways, and they certainly never seemed to pose much of a threat to the player, I only saw his shield totally exhausted three times during the whole view. The enemies barely put out any rounds, other than the vehicles.

4- The player knew the map, the best sniping or firing positions, it was fun to watch that, but as with all speed runs, long on running, short on combat (at times).

5- It just seemed to lack the feel....I did like the up close and personal feel which is more in line with CE, something H2 can lack at times. But overall, it seemed very out of place or off kilter when comparing it to CE or H2.

Am I nuts or what?

Add me if you like!

I haven't finished CE but all the halos have had a different feel from each predecessor I remember playing halo 3 for the first time and thinking "this doesn't feel like halo 2" but that's what i like about halo, bunge used to find ways to make each game different and I like that (especially with reach).

Agreed. It fit the mood perfect.

Agreed. I was expecting Sgt Stacker to say some funny lines on Exodus (I consider him to be some what like Johnson), but he didn't deliver. However the ODST's have a bit of humor. But overall it was lacking.

Disagree. Only the grunts look weird, I dislike their methane tanks. Also the enemies definitely shoot, A LOT.

All speed runs have that.

Agreed. I like the feel Reach has, but it doesn't surpass CE or H2.

Overall you are not nuts. You have some of the most legitimate complaints I've read so far.

Womy, your post brought tears to my eyes!! Reach is such abomination. I'm glad you haven't fallen prey to it.

I agree with you for the most part. I'm curious to hear your opinion on multiplayer in Reach.

I prefer Halo 2 multiplayer.

The worst part about Reach has to be the music. It's unpleasant, loud, and blaring. Although I typically play Halo games with speakers/tv volume muted, there comes times where I'm forced to listen (because of my crappy capture device) and the music is just horrifying.

That would be because their projectile speed in Reach is slower, not to mention Elites fire in short bursts.

Of course, concussion rifle wielding Ultras are and fire extremely fast but that's what I like about them.
