Halo 3 should incorporate what makes all types of games successful. Strategic combat from fighters. Rank, class, abilities, style, personality, and competitiveness from RPG's. And the thrilling and strategic action/aiming of FPS.

PERSONALIZED CHARACTERS- You should have talents in certain areas. For example, I would have my guy fast and sneaky. Others could have high accuracy but more vulnerability to grenades. Basically the multiplayer would be amplified 50 times by features like this.

Some possibilities of skills offered-
Please note: these changes would be generally mild...
*Faster Reloading
*Quicker Movement
*Harder Melees
*Resist More Damage
*Jump Higher
*Longer Range
*Faster Melees
*Better Melee combinations
*Quicker shield recharge
*More Accurate
*Farther Grenade throws.
the possibilities are endless...

ADVANCED COMBAT- Strategic combat could entail sneak attacks and button combinations for different melees. Perhaps, a certain melee to stagger a sword attack. Or a combination to quickly jump away(granted you're skilled in that area). However a system could be integrated to ensure the person who is more talented has a greater chance of surviving. And one thing they would have to avoid is one deadly combination everyone will do-I can see it already.

BALANCED WEAPONS- The weapons need to be absolutely perfectly balanced. Every weapon with advantages and disadvantages, according to the situation. I would be skilled in light weapons, so I could be slightly more accurate with the pistol. The weapons should be chosen for a strategic purpose. Your personal abilities could improve the usefulness of certain weapons.

The weapons should include, but are not limited to:

*The BR- a classic, arguably the most balanced weapon in the game. Why? Because it takes skill and focus to be able to utilize, and the accomplishment of a four-shot is very rewarding.

*The Pistol(no scope)- should be more close ranged than BR and offer quicker melees, and a little more skill to hit headshots. The pistol should be better in close/mid-range combat and the BR better in mid/long range combat.

*The Sword- Personally I like the idea of a constantly circulating death-disher. The sword lunge should be able to be countered -easily if you're skilled in counters(See? the possibilities are endless.)

*The Sniper- There's not much I would change about the sniper. It should require precision and skill to land a headshot.

Players should be able to offer a teammate a weapon theyre not using..

All of these combined could take the action of the existing Halo and make it much more advanced, strategic, and satisfying/enjoyable. This being the final Halo installment, they have plenty of opportuntiy to make this the most entertaining game ever.

---Definitely leave questions and comments, I want to know if you agree or not.

P.S. I believe the Halo storyline should die with Halo 3, but the multiplayer should be made forever, constantly revised and improved.

What's this 'Should' man? Halo Three is already deep in the works appearently, i'm sure Bungie is well on there way to getting the tittle done and breath taking, adding in all those extra features can make it overwhelming, like BattleField2, that's just rediculouse, O.o! like a 2 hour lurning curve on that thing.

I like some of your ideas, but I think the 'Advanced Combat' bit doesn't really fit in Halo. It needs to be kept as the same FPS style we've all come to love, with a plot that we all love more.

i'm assuming you're talking about multiplayer customization
a build-up character would be a problem in that people will probably play for a few days when it first comes out, and be god-like compared to the rest just getting the game
the only way to counter this is each build-up diminishes another adiblity, for instance adding stealth would decrease overall speed, adding armor or health would also probably reduce speed, in fact, most build-ups would reduce speed, so increasing speed would cancel it all out
a player vs player game like this, at best is each gun gives its own abilities, otherwise someone with a shotgun will sprint up to you and fire once removing your shield, and beat you down before you even aim your crosshairs on him and think, "Oh my god, I'm dead."
