Subject: What Provokes You To Post In A Thread You See???

I usually click on every thread but only respond if I feel that nobody has answered the OP or my opinion has not already been expressed.

The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success.

The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.

As you waste your breath complaining about life, Someone out there is breathing their last. Appreciate what you have.

If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.

I like to pick out things i think are stupid or that i don't like.

So that's how it is. You all ought to know better than that.

Well I generally post if I see something interesting to voice my opinion or if I think I could be of some help.

What provokes my attention is how well thought out the thread is and then I see if I can contribute in a way that is positive to the thread. If I don't like it, then I don't post in it.

You capitalizing every word in the title (even words that are not capitalized in titles) prompted me to post about how much I hate people who incorrectly capitalize every word in the title.

I will post after several conditions are fulfilled:

1) The title is about a topic which I feel either matters or has healthy discussion behind it.

2) The post is well formed or makes an ill-informed statement.

3) There is someone who disagrees with me/is a constructive poster (at this point, I've already posted but this will keep me posting most of the time).

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

if the topic is interesting. I almost didn't post in this one but it all depends on what I can bring to the table.

I (1) see if anyone has posted my opinion before. If yes, then I just quote them and post.

I'll only look through a few pages before I post, if it's longer than 5, I'll just reply.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

Post count.
Opinion stating.
Counterarguments.

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

It doesn't take a lot for me to post in any thread, to be honest.

If even a single word in the title is misspelled, or there's improper grammar, I don't click on the thread.

Usually I flick through the replies and see what people have put. I tend to get put off replying if someone has put what I wanted to, maybe just because I don't want to be one of those people that just reply with:

Pineapple juice
^This

So if my (poor) wisdom is missing from a thread then I guess I feel more inclined to grace it.

The topic has to be interesting, and I have to know something about the topic.

"That's about all that can be said for plots, which anyway are just one thing after another, a what and a what and a what.

Now try how and why."

As a general rule, I read through all of the posts in the thread. If my opinion on the matter has been stated and stated thoroughly enough, I don't post. Owing to the intelligence and wit of the men and women that can occasionally be found in these forums, I only actually reply to about one thread for about every twenty that I read. Furthermore, while I'm not fully consistent about this, I also generally only post when I can think of a complete thought on the matter. Id est, more than a single unpunctuated sentence.

As an aside, certain members might wonder "how am I going to keep my post count up?" with such a low rate of posts. The answer is that you don't. It's been said numerous times before that bungie.net is not a place for members to "get all the points." It's a place to have discussion. Therefore, one should evaluate the totality of the ideas in a thread before thinking about posting, even if it's something they're passionate about. This not only will force one to greatly improve the quality of their posts, it will also help them follow the rule better.

With all of that said, sometimes what I think about the matter hasn't been posted, or it has been posted but there is still clarification needed, so I write a couple paragraphs clarifying and expositing. In short, I post if I think I can add to a thread.

While you may be joking, sadly I feel like a large majority of users actually do post in threads for this reason.

Unfortunately, this greatly diminishes the potential quality of conversation among members in the forum.
