Subject: Blue Flame/Fire at X-Number of posts/replies? *Pictures Welcome*

This thread is more food-for-thought for the next New Hawtness more than anything else. I believe it is generally accepted that a flame is burning hotter when the fire is burning blue from gas. This relates to how a hot topic goes from a green plus sign to a red fire burning behind the Webmaster's head; it can also relate to how in Bungie's final Halo game, Reach, they had blue flames to signify their presence in-game, early on in its release.

I think it would be a nice addition to the New Hawtness if when a post reaches X* number of posts/replies, the fire turns blue. I think it would coincide with the hot topic being even "hotter" in a sense, and would be aesthetically pleasing because it would match with the general colors of the site (something bungie has kept relatively the same in recent new Hawtnesses).

What do you think? Could it work? *What number of posts/replies would be appropriate (100, 150, 200, 500)?

The fire should become Blue at 200 or 250 replies.

It should become Green at 500 replies.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

It should become pink at 1,000 replies.

But a green fire is "colder" than a blue fire...

"heh"

No. The whole point of the icons is for instant visual identification. You look at it and before you think, you see the orange color of the flames and think "lots of posts". Or you see the green color and immediately you think "new replies". Mixing up the colors would only serve to confuse people.

My Screenshots / My Group / Remember to follow the rules or you will get trapped in a box.

This idea has been brought up any times. There would be no point in doing that really but it would look cool.

Do you know about time travel?

This idea does seem very interesting. If it was implemented then I believe that it should burn bright and blue at around 250 - 300 posts/replies, however I'd like to see an image first to see what it would possibly look like to see if it would fit in with the overall feel of the website (if you or someone else could provide that).

The beta is super awesome. RogueAssassin27 is now the person who got my Totodile's nickname. Hoo-hah! Relevant.inb4lock

This.

It'd look quite messy if we added another color. Simplicity is one of the better things about this forum.

Seriously, this site needs at least a little bit of pink. They need more pink in the next new hawtness.

I only have one question:

Do you like pie?

On topic, I think it would be cool for the truly massive threads (500-1000+ replies).

Yes, all grizzled internet users like us know that we hate change, but then again, we adapt to it. If there's no change, we're fine with it, but when there is we are just like "NOOOOOOO! Oh, this isn't so bad, alright"

It will not be like every other thread would have blue fire, I just think the aesthetics of it would be quite pretty (for lack of a better word). I would see it being implemented for posts over a high amount of posts so it would be seen often, that is why I used X in the OP.

Blue - 250 replies

Green - 500 replies

Rainbow - 1000 replies

All of them are overridden by the septagon, of course. (Unfortunately.)

Our destiny is not frightful because it is unreal, it is frightful because it is irreversible and iron-clad. Time is the substance I am made of. Time is a river which sweeps me along, but I am the river. It is a tiger which destroys me, but I am the tiger. It is a fire which consumes me, but I am the fire.

White flame is the hottest, so that could either be 500 or 1000. Although, white would be hard to even make it look like flames.

There was a thread about this a couple months ago. But yes it would be neat to have a Blue Flame when a thread reaches 200 or 250 posts. Seeing as it goes along with the whole "Burn Bright, Burn Blue" theme.
