Haha, no no no!

From the title I thought you were suggesting that we should get the in-game flames for posting X amount of times and I almost face-palmed very, very hard.

Take the recognition for the Forum ninjas out. They are regular members picked to preform a task for Bungie, they dont need to have people flock to them when they see the orange septagon, nor do I think they want the extra attention. The rest is good though.

I dislike the forum ninja icon.

They're just regular members. Who cares if they post in a thread?

Edit: Also, hot topic is at 51 replies... not 60. By this logic, all the prerequisite reply counts should be increased by one.

"I will show you how a true Prussian officer fights!"

"And i will show you where the iron crosses grow..."

- "Cross of Iron"

I think that would be pretty awesome!

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

So it seems that a couple of you are not into having the forum ninja indicators.

Would you still object to it if there was an option for them, when posting, for them to turn it in on or off?

I feel that they should have the ability to have a special indicator on their posts because at times they do make very important posts such as this or this.

Now I know one of those is a pinned topic anyway, but there are others that are similar that are not pinned.

If they had the ability to turn it off, then they could use it in situations like this when they feel that the post they are making is of utmost importance.

This may be me being nit-picky: But I believe that the ability to turn it OFF is more important than the ability to turn it ON. (In essence, have it toggled off by default.)

Bit of philosophical nonsense, but that's just my take on it.

Essentially that is what I meant. It would just be a toggle switch with default toggled off.

On occasions, they may be able to provide more "official" responses, such as answering a query about a rule, in which case their post could be considered important. However, I do agree that it is unnecessary for every thread a ninja posts in to have an icon.

I believe one of the ninjas once commented on their coloured text, saying that it would be nice to be able to turn it on and off, depending on whether they are posting "official" answers. Perhaps the ninjas could have an option to turn the icon on or off, in a similar way, although they'd always having their coloured text.

As for the rest or your icons, I do quite like the blue ones, but I'm not a massive fan of the purple or white ones. Also, is a hot topic not usually 51, not 60?

Edit: I took so long to type that up that you already posted the idea. I can imagine it would be useful.

Forum Ninja's, from what ive seen, and this may be wrong, dont want the extra attention. It was best if it was left out altogether. I cant see a scenario for them to want to have other users know they have posted there. Most of their work comes in the form of locking topics and banning users, and a locked symbol is more than effective enough at keeping the population living in fear :)

As for rule queries. For the most part, if you have to ask for clarification, it generally wont be allowed on the forums. For most other circumstances, PM'ing a staff member/ninja is more than ample. No need to clutter up the forums with questions regarding rules.

What if we made 15k rainbow? Or 20k?

That way we'd never get to ever see much more than like 20 of those threads across the site.

could work, considering the fact that the icons they use are already in .gif format. Although, it could cause the site to load a little slower.

There would be a lot of orange septagons if that happened. I like everything but that.

I'm not quite sure on the orange septagon, Ninjas are not that much different from normal members contrary to popular belief. Except that bobcast fellow, he's quite different to everyone else...
