If i remember correctly in the halo 2 DVD jason jones says that they didnt include the books into the game plot because the casual fan would not understand what the hell is going on with the story. so this means that the books are halo fiction. and that the only spartan thats still alive is the MC according to the games right?

so if the 'bove is all true, and people know it, why are there topics everywhere about "other" spartans ie kelly, fred, etc. being in halo 3? maybe im wrong, can anyone explain why this is happening?

I'd like to say that the Book "Makes" the game my friend. In the first novel it shows you how Masterchief came to be... and the 2nd totally ties in stuff from the game and stuff that the "Casual gamer" didnt need to know. and the 3rd showed the events leading up to reaching Earth in one piece... there are VARIOUS things the books tell that people who dont read it wont ever find out.

Because people are getting excited. They do say somewhere that the books arent attached to the game....Just dont remember where.I would like to see more spartans in the game but I doub they will be. Besides it would be hard for them too do because shouldnt any other spartans be just as strong as mc and wouldnt that be unfair too the a.i making the game too easy.Maybe a cinematic thing though.Either way id like to see them in the game.

I agree with the original poster. Although I like the idea of there being other Spartans, and we know that there are since the books tell us so, I don't see how introducing them in the THIRD game, after having us believe that we are the only remaining Spartan, wouldn't just confuse the players of the games only.

They wern't "INVINCIBLE" they were killable, I mean there was like 100 spartans or more to begin with, and the Chief was the "leader" because he was the most capable of handling the stress, I think at one time one of the spartans actually broke down and cried during an engagement and he slapped the crap out of him. I am going by memory.

i can agree that the 1st book could be true to the game and parts of the 2nd. like when zanzulmee (sp? the main elite that you follow in the 2nd book) takes a shade to the elevator in the engine room, that was never there in the actual game. and the 3rd book is WAAAY off of the events that lead to halo 2. no where in halo 2 do we see more spartans, dr. hasely, weird time crystals, or anything like that.

further more, i dont want to see more spartans in the game. i like having the cheif being the one and only guy. and seeing a spartan running straight into gun fire and my rockets because of bad AI will just ruin my schema of the spartans.

Facts are the enemy of tru7h....

The books are actually halo universe cannon.. So they are correct in their story... but bungie did say that, if necessary, they would disregard what the books said in favour of the games (i think one example they gave was of Johnsons apparent immunity form everything!).

There is the possibility of having other spartans in halo 3, but they'd need to work it into the story of the game and not rely on people having read the books. It just wouldn't be fair to introduce this random character or random fact at some point within the game, that would be too much of a Deus Ex Machina.
