Subject: where can i find myself a copy of halo 2

Halo 2 is the only halo game i havent played, and everyone says its the best halo. i went to a store to ask if i can still buy it but they said that they dont sell original xbox games anymore. so is there any place where i can get it even the pc version legally

Yes, I AM just that awesome.

Gamestop might have the PC port. But if you want the xbox one I'd look somewhere that sells older games.

Or you could try EBay.

  • 12.31.2011 12:37 PM PDT

Console - Ebay or a store that sells old games.

PC - Ebay or Best Buy.

You feel the Xbox version of Combat Evolved or 2 is better? If you're talking about Combat Evolved you've got me here confused as to why you feel, in any way, that the Xbox version is better.

Can't really get those experiences anymore due to the lack of people who system link Combat Evolved Xbox anymore. Halo PC still has online multiplayer, much better graphics, higher resolution, custom maps, etc. You can get everything you can out of Halo: Combat Evolved PC that you can out of the Xbox version and more. The only thing the Xbox version is good for in comparison is to stare at and think "*Sigh* Nostalgia...". (Which is what I do)

What is one thing on the Xbox version of Halo: Combat Evolved that is better than the PC version?

Halo for Xbox just feels smoother than Halo PC. That's all.

Besides, I had H2 in mind. H2 Vista is crap. I'd much rather have the Xbox version.

Actually, Halo PC is smoother. That's a fact. You can get it running at FPS rates over 60 whereas Halo: Combat Evolved on Xbox can only run at 30 max.

Yeah, we get it. You are a very prideful PC gamer. PC gaming master race and all consoles are bad for bad kids.

Can we move on?

When was I saying all that? When was I doing any of that? I'm just asking why someone would think it was better on the Xbox than it was on the PC. Why would you waste money on a game you already have so that you can play it at a lower resolution, lower frame-rate, and no where near as many features as the one you already have? Even then you have the nerve to say it's better than the one that has all that? When you have absolutely no good reasoning for it?

I'm not trying to be the typical "PC rules everything. You guys have -blam!- for brains for liking Xbox." I'm just wondering why you'd like it more and defending the PC version of the game from being belittled with claims that aren't even true.

This isn't even about the PC platform in general. This is just about comparing the two forms of the game. I have a right to ask questions like this and I have a right to correct someone if they're incorrect. (Yes. Saying Halo: Combat Evolved on Xbox is "smoother" than the PC alternative is an incorrect statement as I've already said.)

P.S. You can LAN with Halo PC. I forgot to mention this before. Bringing up System Link in saying that it makes Halo on the Xbox better isn't a valid argument. If you're just specifically talking about your memories then they're just memories. They shouldn't be brought up in a discussion where you're comparing two forms of a game. That just shows you have obvious bias.

Sorry if it seems that I'm attacking the Xbox version of Halo or the Xbox. I'm merely trying to defend the PC version and give it the proper respect it deserves just like many of you do for Halo 2 when people attack it. (Which, of course, you guys know I support you with)

Can we move on?Sure. As long as no one starts trying to scramble for silly reasons as to why the PC version of Halo is inferior to the Xbox version.

That logic is a bit dumb, don't you think?

"We can move along only if nobody contests my opinion".

Maybe I'm just thinking of it the wrong way, but that's pretty much what I'm getting.

As in "We can move along assuming no one wants to continue on with this."

...which you did

Thing is, I don't care if we move on or not. That's what I was trying to express.

The reason I like console more than PC is simple, I like to be online, record and upload all the while I'm playing. Unless I get a high-end gaming computer, any games I play on my computer will lag when uploading or rendering. Also, when my grandson comes over I can be online while he is playing GoW3 and such without having to buy another computer.

A computer that will run most PC games with zero slow-down will cost more than the console. I don't play a lot of games so I just have one console and my one computer and I keep them separate.

However, if I had like 3 different consoles and I could play all the games on PC it would be cheaper to buy another computer. Although I guess there's some console games you can't play on a PC. I think it just gets down to personal choice on the trade-offs.

Again, I wasn't comparing PC vs Xbox, I was comparing Halo: Combat Evolved PC to the Xbox version of Halo.

Don't think about PC gaming rigs costing you around $800, think of it this way: You're already going to have a computer. That computer will probably cost you around $500. When buying that $500 stock computer, you can then upgrade the GPU and give it more RAM for about $300 which is effectively the same amount a console is when only counting the parts you wouldn't have bought before making it a gaming PC. (Stock PCs these days come with a greater CPU than they should so you normally don't have to worry about that)

It is down to personal choice when talking about what platform you want to play on. I completely respect that in every way. What I didn't respect is someone saying that the Xbox version of Halo: Combat Evolved is superior to the PC version with absolutely no good reasoning.

Yeah, since I'm on a very limited income, I'd rather spend 3 or 4 hundred on a console than 800 or so on another PC because I already have my PC. The reason I would not run games on my PC is for the reasons I stated above but mostly it's cost.

For me and a lot of people it's about money rather than quality. The quality of PC gaming is tied to how much you can afford in hardware so a PC might very well be inferior to a console because the consumer can't afford anything but a basic computer.

So I feel you are right on the quality of the higher-end PC but at the same time, if you can't afford the quality then the gaming experience with a PC will suffer.

That's just my take on things. If PC's and consoles were the same price I would take a PC every time I believe.

That's not really the case. What I'm trying to say is you can take your PC you already have and upgrade it to being a gaming PC for around the same amount of money as it is to buy a console. Even then there are tons of games you can get that are of the best quality that are still well populated even though of their age. (Counter-Strike 1.6/Source, Quake Live, Unreal Tournament '99, Unreal Tournament 2k4, Halo PC, etc.)

For me and a lot of people it's about money rather than quality. The quality of PC gaming is tied to how much you can afford in hardware so a PC might very well be inferior to a console because the consumer can't afford anything but a basic computer. If you only care about graphics then you're absolutely right, but the truth is it's not all about that. PC gaming is great for countless things like modding, interactive communities, and long-lasting life-spans in games. If PC gaming were all about graphics it wouldn't have most of its populated games being older titles. (Like the ones I named before). Even when I had an outdated computer I played it more due to those qualities alone.

That's just my take on things. If PC's and consoles were the same price I would take a PC every time I believe.Like I've been saying, they essentially are. The thing that makes people feel they cost more money is the excess stuff everyone most likely already has in their PCs.

Again, all of this is completely beside the point. I was comparing Halo: Combat Evolved PC and Halo: Combat Evolved Xbox. Even a low-end PC can play Halo: Combat Evolved PC in a way that I described as being better than the Xbox version.

This has really gone off topic. I'm sorry for causing it to go so off course.
