Subject: a theory about MJOLNIR and plasma weapons

I will start off by saying that plasma is just a fancy way of saying lightning or electricity in any form and MJOLNIR armor is made of an outer coat of metal (which conducts electricity but sends it straight to the ground usually) and a kind of Maxi-glass (which deflects electricity), and then on the second layer is a kind of rubbery material (which also deflects electricity). its all simple physics and science.so if a spartan is shot with a plasma weapon should it really do anything at all once the shields are down?

Have you read the novels? I remember a lot of Spartans being killed or injured seriously from plasma.

Ummmmm, did you forget about the extreme heat? You know, that in the books causes burns from near-hits? And that it can take off your leg with a small burst?

you make a good point. I didn't put the heat and force into consideration. but still, plasma is just concentrated electricity, something that metal, glass, and rubber can withstand. so without the heat and force it would just harmlessly bounce off. I am talking about real physics here, not just a bunch of sci-fi babble.

+1 for you good sir.

I thought plasma was super heated gass?

it can be that too, but I am sure that the plasma from the weapons in halo are probably a mix of the two, it is probably how they can concentrate it into a pellet like they do,

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

This guy, this guy knows. The plasma that is launched by the plasma weapons is ionized gas within an electromagnetic field.

Chemistry Class, FTW.

Frankie said that Covenant 'plasma' weapons aren't plasma but something much more arcane and dangerous. Don't have the quote but Opog if he's lurking may post it.

But then why call them plasma weapons at all?

I pretty much already established that by saying "electricity IN ANY FORM" technically "gas within an ELECTROMAGNETIC field" would fall into the "IN ANY FORM" category. lightning is the most common form of plasma.

But this is not lightning, this plasma is GAS encased in an electromagnetic field. Ever wondered why plasma is so effective against shields? It's because of that electromagnetic field, it messes up the shields, then when the shields are off, the actual plasma (which is around 3,000 degrees) does the dirty work to the armor.
