There are no tracks on the road in the teaser, only large strange circular prints that don't appear to be patterned enough to be from anything drivable.
It makes sense because the covenant either hover or fly and therefore don't leave tracks. But, if the covenants with MC, then why wouldn't there be some humans witnessing the event and therefore some human vehicles.
No tracks = Humans dead = No warthogs

One more thing, what about the dark patches on the road? Why aren't they blown over with sand by the wind, and what are they, what makes a print like that?

well there is a lot fo dust and wind, so most tracks would be hidden.

as for there being humans ther, they are probably fighting a HUGE battle somewhere else

I didn't see any taco stands next to the road either.

Does this mean the end of mexicans and roadside food stalls?

The humans are not extinct. And no it won't be the end of human vehicles, however, I believe that earth has been overrun by covenant

this is the african desert now isnt it
obviously with all the dust, sand and wind any tracks from a hog, scarab or any other tracks made from ground based vehicles would be covered up

Wow, this topic is really reaching isn't it? I mean come on; maybe he is just on a back road that the vehicles never traveled on. I wouldn't look too much into it; I highly doubt human vehicles won't be making an appearance in Halo 3.
