years? in the end of halo 2 the covvies were attacking earth, maybe days, or weeks... but years?

Halo and Halo 2 took place over a span of several months, and the Master Chief's armor look perfect throughout the whole game. If that many months of fighting couldn't even dent his armor, how long do you think it would take to dent it, scratch it, and turn it olive brown (like in the video)? Exactly. That suit must have been through years of fighting.

If it has been years then why did it take so long for the covanent to find that device? also what if the dents and scraches where picked up during halo 2 and the days after john got back to earth? after all the covenent sent basically everyone they had down to earth

If all the denting and sceatching occured occured during Halo 2, you would have seen them... did you even read my post?

Who else could it be? I know of the surviving spartans, but I think everyone is getting carried away about this trailer. People are saying that the Spartan is not MasterCheif, and that it has new armor. I doubt the armor is new, I will agree that the color is darker. Maybe it's dirty or perhaps... something. There are other arguements over what Cortana says and what the loop in the background is. Why? It is just an announcement trailer that probably has little to nothing to do with the game or plot. Remember the Halo 2 trailers. Those were not 100% accurate either. Bungie probably just wanted to show us a little bit of what they were working on, and now look, we're exploding into blood, and pulling out our hair over some announcement trailer. This isn't a time to argue. It is a time of happiness and salvation! The spartan is Master Cheif, Bungie isn't out to trick you.

This was in the Halo 3 Announcement:

You can see how detailed the Chief is, but that detail applies to our other, unseen, unrevealed characters, vehicles, environment and so on.

There, so you are wrong, it is definitely the MC.

Don't call someone wrong when you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. By Master Chief, they could mean ANY Spartan that ranked as a Master Chief Petty Officer.

for all you fools out there:
Of course its the Chief. If you've read the FAQ, then you would know that the bungie editor used Master Chief in reference to the character in the trailer more than once. Also, if you've read the books, then you'd know that every other Spartan was killed when the Covenant "glassed" Reach. Spartan 117 a.k.a The Master Chief was the only Spartan to get away from the carnage, he escaped it on the Pillar of Autumn, and if there were any other Spartans on-board it would have said so. In Halo 2 they switched the usage from the Assault Rifle to the Battle Rifle, Master Chief has since then returned to Earth. New technologies are bound to pop up within the time period he was AWOL from the planet. Therefore, the gun that is seen in his hands would be new technology, an upgrade from the Battle Rifle, and there are likely to be more technologically upgraded armour, guns, vehicles etc. in the game.

I stopped reading when you said "Also, if you've read the books, then you'd know that every other Spartan was killed when the Covenant 'glassed' Reach.", because that's when it was obvious you had no clue what you were talking about.

Ok so maybe the scratches did not happen during Halo 2 but the covanent sent a very large fleet of ships to earth at the end of Halo 2. Even days or weeks of taking on armies of covenent would dent Johns armour.

Because it's MILES underground, or because it's possible that not all of those ships appeared right after Halo 2. Maybe right after Halo 2, they assigned just a couple ships to be scanning the planet, and they finally just got pissed and made everyone look for it at once.

And you really shouldn't "go any further", because you obviously don't read my posts or know what you're talking about.

Ok, so the only reasonable outcome of this pointless conversation, is that Bungie plays as all like fools... I can only assume that even they do not know what they want with this trailer. I think they were forced to create a trailer for marketing reasons only. Just think about it. It is just like O2. They don't even know what weapons they want to use. They don't even know whether the fleet in front of MC is friendly or hostile. I'm saying this, because i just noticed that the banshees are totally empty. FOR GODS SAKE.

Yo lightning? Are you kidding? Incase you've never seen lightning on Earth, its like bulky and wide. Its narrow and long. If it was lightning, it would've taken up more space on his visor. Plus I watched the whole clip on my 32" HDTV with my Xbox 360. I don't know much about Halo because I'm not as big a loser as some of you people, but that is the light they use to chat.

Why the -blam!- would that chat light be visible on the outside of the visor?

Your HUD isn't visible when looking at his face, so why the hell would a little green light shine through is futuristic shiny visor?

It's light people, get over it.

MC isn't the best, he is above average with all skills, and a well rounded person. Couple that with his great luck and you have the most effective Spartan II.

is because cortana wouldnt be interacting with any other spartan other than the MC

She wasn't talking to the Chief, there was no way she could get back to him.

I'm guessing she was talking to Gravemind.

You'r joking right? LOL> Ireally hope so (though I doubt it). The Armor never changed because it would be too much work on the old box. Maybe it will be different on the new one..

..Maybe he got painted in desert camo

..Maybe the light from cruisers mixed with the color of most surroundings bouncing on and off of the Chief, he appeared brown.

Firstly, This video may not be directly after the MC lands on Earth. This would give him plenty of time to find the "assault rifle" and upgrade his armour. Perhaps there are still some UNSC soldiers still around to fit it for him. Also when Cortana speaks about "The MC's" past and future, Cortana was primarily around him only after choosing him as her companion in The Fall of Reach. You poeple should read everything about the universe before you make any speckulations. It could be likely that it is another Spartan, but it would be cliche to add another "savior" this late in the series, for you would not have enough time to build up the emotional atachments to the character.

--Halo Punk--
Peace Out

And about the armour bieng battle damaged, it may be a forerunner artifact found near the Ark. This would explain all of the oricles recognising the MC as the "Reclaimer". The Mark V armour might have been a design influenced by this artifact found by UNSC or the ONI spooks.

by the way, a trailer for a game doesnt have to start from the beginning of the game. that trailer could be taking place in a level that is in the middle of the game, and he was off the ship.

I'm not joking. You must be, though, because nobody is really that stupid... well, maybe they are. You seem to be a real idiot.

Do you have any idea how easy it would be to make Master Chief's armor look slightly different, such as a new dent, in every level? The Xbox could handle that. The N64 could handle that.

Maybe if you read the books you wouldn't look like a total idiot when youre trying to put people down. There are multiple survivors. Hell, there was even another one in the PoA, Linda.

A few Spartans are killed on the way back to Earth, and when we finally make it back, Halo 2 starts. Also, BRs are introduced on REACH along with SMGs and Magnums.

So, before you open your mouth to try and correct someone, don't be an idiot - make sure that they're actually wrong.

Do you really think Bungie wanted to code in the different battle damage you recieve? If they did that, they'd have to do that for everything. The Xbox probably couldn't handle it - and if it could, it would take an unimaginable amount of processing power.

They kept one model to use.

It would be VERY simple to use a slightly different model in every level. It's first person, so you can't see where you're getting shot. All Bungie would have to do is give you a few extra scratches, and maybe a dent, after every few levels and you would never know if their position was not accurate because you wouldn't know where you got wounded.
