Subject: So I just replayed Halo 2's campaign...

And my god, did it suck. I spent half the time trying to navigate poorly-lit mazes of environments figuring out where I was supposed to go next, and was faced with ridiculously unbalanced enemies (brutes & the flood in particular). It was more of a chore to play through than it was fun, and I was glad when I was finished with it.

I can say, however, that the multiplayer kicks major ass. Too bad there's no live for it anymore.

Oh not this maze -blam!- again... first CE now H2. The haters are expanding!!!

The Brutes aren't that bad. They may be damage sponges but they are headshotable, can be killed by 1 grenade stick, assassinated, and also are easily destroyed by the sword and Brute Shot.

But I agree about the Flood. On the other hand, did you try killing them from long range? Use the sword? Not all of them are shielded. Now if you had Thunderstorm and Assassins on, I can understand. But if not, it shouldn't be that hard to kill Flood.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

What difficulty?

And not being able to navigate through Halo 2 just shows you suck at navigating, there are no mazes, it's a simple fairly linear game. If you think this is hard go check out Halo CEs levels (no bashing intended)

As for the brutes, try and get a hold of a brute shot fr meleeing them or a shotgun. Or you could just stick them, or keep your distance and lay into them with dual wield plasma rifles.

As for the flood, use a precision weapon to headshot them, or use a shotgun, energy sword, sentinel beam, dual wield plasma rifles , fuel rod gun or rocket launcher to kill them quickly

I doubt it, we knew you were passionate about your views but there have been far more difficult people than you.

Personally, I never really thought of you as troll. At times you just seemed to lack tolerance of other views and the ability to walk the middle road. The middle road is the path with the least resistance.

Yeah. Now i see that i was totally wrong about Halo 2.

What you just said reminds me of a few Halo CE forum goers though.

  • 01.01.2012 10:09 AM PDT

They are not stupid over there and most come over here and at least look. The wildly swinging pendulum is what puzzles people imo.

The real you is coming out, do not impede. All of this has nothing to do with CE or Halo 2, by the way. It's about how you get along with other forum members in general. If you treat someone well and with respect you get treated well in return (for the most part). Likewise, toss crap and crap gets tossed back.

I haven't looked lately to see how you are dealing with the CE folks now so if you've lightened up there then what I've said above has already happened.

Maybe this will piss you off but you trapped yourself there. The tolerance in your topics and posts were near zero on both sides because they saw what happened over here first, then you morphed here. That was all well and good but suddenly you appeared in CE with the exact same qualities you showed in earlier H2 posts and threads. The signals you send out to us all are mixed.

Like I said, it's not about CE or H2...it's not about games, it's about how you get along with other forum members. I ask you to go there and take the first step back.

That's kinda funny, H2's campaign was my favorite. I use to hate Sacred Icon and Quarantine Zone cause they were such dark levels (but "hella" beautiful), and they were very hard to navigate the first couple times around, but I grew to love them once I knew where I was supposed to go. There were also some moments at the end that were a little to hard, like on Uprising, I hated those damn crazy brutes.

But the first 4 levels of the campaign were, in my opinion, some of the best designed levels in any Halo game. Cairo Station is a good intro to the combat, has a great weapon selection, and just plain epic. Outskirts and Metropolis are just flat out amazing vehicle action. And The Arbiter was probably the best Banshee mission in the Halo franchise. And come on dude, how could you not like Delta Halo and Regret?

And the last mission of the game (The Great Journey) is epic to say the least. Blasting $hit in the Wraith, teaming up with Hunters, and escorting that scarab while your in a Banshee to the control room was so much fun! Fighting Tartarus kinda sucks balls though...

That's where the GJ ultimate Councilors army collection comes in.

And the manned Banshees (by Elite allies).
And the 20 beam rifle Elites.
And the manned Wraith.
And the 4 Hunters.
And the grenade throwing 10 Spec ops Elites.
And a group of 11 Goldies.

So much customization. The only real problem with that boss battle is that there's no cps. :'( I at least expected 1 cp for each Brute wave once Tartarus gets damaged enough.

I wandered around way too much in "Sacred Icon" looking for a way out. It bugged me. Halo CE has repetitive environments, but I wouldn't call them mazes. The only real mazes I could think of are The Library and the maintenance tunnels on the POE.

The brutes generally aren't too bad, as I just headshot them, but when they berserk they become a real -blam!-. The flood is the real issue. Even with a BR it takes a while to kill them, and plasma rifles don't work for me.

Those were the two levels that really pissed me off, Sacred Icon & Quarantine zone. Too damn hard to navigate, and too much flood. I do agree with you on the first 4 missions though, to an extent.

My real complaint, however, is in the gameplay mechanics. The melee is incredibly nerfed, especially considering the Master Chief can supposedly break through concrete walls with little more than a scratch. Now all of a sudden it takes 3 punches to kill a grunt. And the brutes were just way too damn annoying. I quit right around Uprising.

Idk, maybe I didn't give it much of a chance. I was also playing on heroic, so maybe that had something to do with it.

Yeah totally, Heroic and Legendary on H2 are just to frustrating or difficult. You have to have the patience for it, and know where your going before hand for some levels. Others a pretty linear though, but allows very fun because they are sandbox encounters. I always liked how clever the AI could be at times and how utterly stupid they could act a second later. :)

Not to sound like a noob, but I think Normal is the most fun and least frustrating difficulty. I do agree with you on the melee thing, to an extent, and think you should try using sword on flood! Its actually kinda really fun... But there have definitely been times when I wanted to smash my controller into my TV cause of some bull$hit that the flood pulled.

I also just really enjoyed Halo 2's art style. All the environment types would look so cool remastered in something like the Halo Reach engine. Especially the levels that take place in the library quarantine zone at night with the snow. I bet you could totally do some cool -blam!- with the lighting. And the Uprising/Great Journey levels would look "hella" gorgeous. And High Charity un-flood-ified with that tower in the middle of the city would look so sick in HD with modern day skyboxes! That whole game just had a beautiful art design. The use of colors and variety of locales really worked well for me as the player of the game, exploring insane new worlds.

Scared Icon and Quarantine Zone aren't really that hard. Sure, you get a bit confused at times, but you just have to break it down. Explore all the paths. If some take you back, just come back and look for other paths. After a while it becomes quite easy

And dual wield plasma rifles should work agast the flood

With a BR, you have to make sue the reticle has a small dot in the middle. Thus happens when you aim at the tentacles. Shooting their is an instant kill
