I thought Halo 2 had the best campaign story and maps, it was awesome!

As it did, Arbitor. The thread creator is provoking us in this argument for reactions and attention. Why else would someone specifically plant a seed of chaos in a relatively tranquil realm?

Chaos itself, is disorder for some hidden purpose. I will speculate what that purpose is as being trolling to elicit negative emotions.

OP, as there is a great chance you were not acquainted with such ideas, I'll throw you a bone and submit my thoughts:

I disagree. Halo 2 had the best of all the Halo campaigns in my opinion. Sure, part of it is nostalgia, but hey, I feel the same for Marathon and even then can admit that it was bland in some respects. (Although Wonderful for its time.) Additionally, Halo 2 had maps from heaven. By this I mean that they were well designed and textured to reveal certain moods in people that really rounded the game. Halo 2 was great.

Don't undermine the family.

I think he was overwhelmed, he OD's on the brutal CMP, the explosion was heard 'round his block.

Now that the dust has settled a bit, he says he will give it another go. He may yet prove to have the true warrior spirit and join 'The Family'.

I'm a Blarg Blarg.

Yes Halo 2 had a couple flaws here and there but I think most people will agree it still rules as a legendary game.

People don't realise that Halo 2's campiagn was the mother of all campigns. It included everything (besides all the deleted content), just think the Heretics were such a change from simple Elites; Enforcers were more intresting then Setinels. Halo 2's campaign may have had its flaws but it was the best by faw.

Agreed. Most people don't give a -blam!- about the work some people go through. Campaign has gone from play and relive to play and trash. They fail to see the subtle elements of gameplay. There's far less appreciation for campaign now.

Unfortunately. Imo, they should have been leaping like crazy. After all, their leader was an Elite Ranger. Instead, they were just regular footsoldiers. Not very interesting to fight. More annoying actually because of their freaking Carbines.

Agreed, but I really liked the blue beam Sentinels.

Agreed.

There are only 5 flaws (compared to H3 and Reach) that have brought me to my knees in my line of work (from aggravating to negligent):

-cp system
-game deleting AI more often
-AI crate climbing. It renders most blockades for Elites useless and it makes Elites look stupid (when they could go around it or when you're not even over there). I liked having AI contained in CE
-inability for the game to hold a lot of AI without losing particles and deleting AI
-physics, especially when using Covie vehicles. Also, the loss of bumping when colliding into the wall with the hog

H2 Anniversary has the potential to fix some of these.

And it wont because there are some fanboys that will flame 343i for actually improving the game for its REAL fans.

You have a point.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

I disagree with only two points you made

Heretics being no different from normal elites. Sure they are similar and act similar, but I think the main differences are to do with the actual story and not gameplay. For example, the weapons they use, and their aesthetics.

Ai crate climbing I think was a good addition. Sure you can't use them for flinching, but it adds a sense of realism to the Halo storyline. Just having them mindlessly running into crates just makes me think it's an old inperfect game and I wouldn't take the story too seriously if they had AI making obvious stupid mistakes like that

3 words.

Choo choo climb.

And fyi, if the crate blockade is positioned correctly, then they will still run mindlessly when scripting calls them. Crate climbing is a pointless addition.

They make an even more stupid mistake by crate climbing.

On CS, first hangar, second hangar, and bomb room, on LASO,
I've seen Elites delay their death or make it too easy to kill them by crate climbing and it gets annoying. I want the damn sword wielding Zealot to get his ass over here so I can assassinate him, not climb up the freaking over-sized crate and lose track of me.

Also consider how inconvenient it is for AI collections. I can't get the damn Heretic Elites to stop jumping over my supply cases and breaching my weapons cache making me have to revert again and again. It's so freaking hard to contain the Elites in the hangar on The Arbiter.

Finally, forts on OS during the IWHBYD battle. IIRC, Elites can climb up the crates.

Think about how you're on the supply case and a marine tries to climb and push you off (happens in H3). That can get very annoying. Climbing over a supply case on it's face, that's reasonable. But climbing over an upright supply case or one on it's side, there's nothing tactical other than exposing oneself to enemy fire.

In Reach, on LNoS, troopers always get past my wall blockade by climbing unless I put those smaller shields in front of the crates.

There is nothing good that can come from crate climbing. Absolutely nothing!

Jumping over crates would look more realistic than climbing. I'm actually glad Elites in Reach don't climb anymore and that their jump height is so small that it's negligent to breaching my setup. Now marines just need to stop climbing and try making futile short jumps and I'd be happy.

Megabattles in H2 and H3 are so inconvenient because of stuff like this. CE has 4. H2 has 1 (and the numbers aren't even that big). H3 has 1 (and the enemies are mostly territorial). That's how far Halo has gone. From huge battles to linear gameplay.

One of the reasons I am still working with H2 is that it's not as devoid and limited as H3 or Reach.

I cant really say much for maps since i never played MP but i personally think that Halo 2 had the best srorytelling and story in the entire series. Halo 3 had a good story but the storytelling could be a lot better

I think halo 2 is ok. I don't like it because the elites have a one melee kill.I like halo 1 and halo 3 a lot better.

The one hit kill can be annoying, but it is part of the challenge. You have to get in, hit them, and get out. I don't like just boxing with the elites.

It's not so bad. It's better than the ones in Reach. Those Elites are so freaking hard to mess with.

But yeah, I liked H1 Elites better too: Assassinating Zealots. Assassinating Elite regulars. Assassinating Elites with style! Assassinating and using their body as cover!! Transitioning into assassination!!!

And that's why I turn on Thunderstorm, Sputnik, Ghost, and Black Eye and load up Cairo Station on Legendary. It gives me a chance to fight Ultra Elites up close and it feels SO DAMN GOOD (as in I have that crazy and wild feeling you know), just like in CE.

yeah i tried to mod it but it crashes and i found something out when i tried to balance out the halo 2 melee to be like halo 1. the elites melee in halo 2 have the same amount of damage as halo 1 elites, but a flag was turned on when i looked at the map with gravemind. the flag was (Melee is Fatal)

You have to make them dance. Go with the flow, and get behind them.

But then it's ridiculously easy. I don't feel like I accomplished anything.

the books say Spartans are stronger than elites and sadly the games don't

  • 02.11.2012 4:45 AM PDT

On legendary, the one shot jackals were excrutiatingly slow to work around. There were certain levels that seriously limited your tactical flexability.

  • 02.14.2012 12:34 PM PDT

it seemed cool but i didn't understand when the theme of the game was the song was Blow me away by breaking benjamin mean while an elite could kill you with one melee
