Well spank my balls and call me Santa, it's Easter already!

Anyway, in my oppinion it would be pretty cool if the Bungie forum had some kind of "notification" system. Ideally, it would be similar to you tubes, as in you are allerted
and can easily travel to any reply someone has had to something you have posted (ie they have quoted what you have said and replied to it).
This would mean that you wouldnt have to trawl through every thread you have posted it to see if anyone has replied, and would be a great timesaver. Obviously there will be flawes/problems, but its just an idea so please dont sacrafice me to some pagan God.

Why are you reading my signature? Who actually opens these things and reads them!

And as always, SEND ME A PM. Please. Or really bad things will happen to you.

This is probably going to get shot down, but hey ho...

Have some confidence, my man!

And yes this idea would be okay as long as it was toggle-able, but nothing like this will be implemented until the site is redesigned.

The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success.

The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.

As you waste your breath complaining about life, Someone out there is breathing their last. Appreciate what you have.

If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.

Perhaps a notification bar next to the number of messages you have. If you have a saved thread and someone else posted in it a clickable number would appear; taking you to the saved threads page - or simply to the thread its self.

Unfortunately due to the way the search feature works I don't think a Notification system like facebook's tagging would work. Unless, like with the Halo 3 and Reach files you were able to 'tag' yourself in a post or simply tag yourself to the thread its self.

My understanding of web coding is limited; and understanding of how Bungie.net works even less so. So I have no idea if that is even possible.

lol OP be confident, the worst that could happen is if Foman comes and gives you around house kick to face.

All in all it's not a bad idea. It has been talked about a few times here. I for one really don't see a need for a system like this. You can always go back into a thread to see if anyone has replied to a post of yours.

Yeah it has, and i've supported it everytime, it would be awesome not to mention very handy.

I could only see it being handy if you were in a big discussion with a few ppl in a thread. Then yea I could see it being good if you wanted to keep talking about a certian point.

An interesting concept for a forum community. I know not of any other forums that use a system like this (which is not to say they do not exist, I am hardly well traveled in forums) however I think that this would work, providing it has the aforementioned toggle ability.

Perhaps an important feature would be the ability to choose which threads you chose to follow. Not all of the threads I post in I wish to be notified of every time someone else has posted. I frequently have one thing to say and feel that, for my part, the matter is closed. Also, there should be a feature that somehow (although a suitable solution is not obvious to me of the top of my head) to very active threads. I have little desire to get constant notifications and would rather have a notification for every ten posts, or every set amount of time, to remind me to check.

For the moment I use the save post function to facilitate this but it is hardly a brilliant solution. I am interested however in what the rest of the community thinks of this and what solutions they come up with.

We miss you Logan.
Ask any question. I'll help with anything on site or off.

It would be good, but it would depend on what the notification is about. I wouldn't wan't a notification everytime someone post in a thread I make.

The most useful option would be if someone were to reply to you/quote your post, then you'd get a notification telling you as such.

That would be good, but we should also have some way to toggle it.

a toggle would only be necessary if the notifications were popups. If it were kind of like face book with a tiny little popup in the corner and a little number of notifications up at the top, that would prob be the most efficient.

and @OfTheBloodguard, that's about the only way notifications would be used other than messages and new stories by bungie, because who would want to look at the homepage while surfing the forums.

A notification system would be a great addition IMO. It would be a great feature. I support it 100%.

Like Facebook? I'm not sure what you mean by notifications on YouTube.

  • 01.01.2012 1:33 PM PDT

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

I'd love to see a notification system become implemented on bungie.net.

Here is a more elaborate description of a notification system and how it could be implemented on Bungie.net

  • 01.01.2012 2:52 PM PDT

Who the hell do you think I am?

That would be alright, I guess. You could have a separate inbox for notifications, or something like that.

I think this would be a okay idea, I would probably use it. Although, bungie.net would have to be completely redesigned to implement it.

  • 01.01.2012 3:06 PM PDT

This has been brought up a lot. I'm all for it.

  • 01.01.2012 3:08 PM PDT

I've always been for notifications. I think it would be great if B.net had a 'facebook-like' notification system.
Of course there would have to be an feature that allows users to turn it off.
