Do you guys think that the forum titles should be deleted. The forum titles are suppose to be fun , but of coarse the community turn it in to something else. Users are beginning to turn the titles into some serious thing. They think just because someone is a mythic member they are suppose to be the Veterans of this site and guide us.Users should leave the titles as just that titles. Users shouldn't make a big deal because someone is a higher title than them. I've talked to so many new or regular members who know just as much as any Mythic out there. I've seen users on the site who think that the higher the title the more they know. What do you think community?
Edit: I don't really mean getting rid of them, but we need to stop taking them so serious.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

Who ever said that titles are a proxy for knowledge?

I think that I should get the title "Clairvoyant Caress". And everyone else loses their title.

Higher title, greater wisdom (knowledge). Just sayin'.

And why should what some people think (incorrectly - although there is likely a correlation between knowledge and title, the relationship is incredibly unlikely to be causative - after all, how exactly can one measure "knowledge") about the title system be allowed to influence the decision making process?

Keep the titles or drop them, makes no odds to me. But I'd prefer a decision to be made on the basis of accurate information.

Another idea: people who have been on the site 10+ years should get to make custom titles. And that has to be 10 active years. If they made an account in 2001, did nothing for a year, then started being active, they have to wait 11 years.

Wow. I'm amazing at coming up with ideas. I should be on the web team.

I think they're fine. I judge people by their posts, not title bar color.

Although sometimes it's okay to make the assumption that generally the higher title, the more well behaved the person is. This is not always true though.

I think they need a redo. Posts without ban, rather than length of time here, should be the major factor here.

No Mythics have posted in this thread yet, curious.

Titles don't mean that much to me. Whether they stay or go is of no concern to me. Although, it would get rid of a good chunk of the threads asking about the titles themselves.

So, I guess I'm leaning more towards the absence of member titles.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

Or, let's not take titles so seriously and just let them be what they were intended as: for fun.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Just an idea off of the top of my head... but curious as to what people think.

Imagine a user option to "opt out" of titles. And when you do, you don't see the titles of any members. Everyone (except the web team and ninja) shows up as "member". But by selecting this option, the displayed title for the member (to those who are opting in and seeing/displaying titles) is something to indicate that they "aren't playing the game". For example, the term "Member" but the text of the title is in gold to show that they don't want their title shown and they can't see (and don't care about) yours.

  • 01.01.2012 12:38 PM PDT

I don't care about them at all. If they were gone, we'd go to elitism by join date (even more so than it already is). Why can't we all just be friends?

As for your idea, Recon, I think that would be somewhat, although not entirely, efficient. I simply can't see it working too well.

Every member should be made Mythic for a day and then all the titles should be reset. I think that would work out nicely.

Giving us the option to have or not have individually?

I thought we had no rights?

Seriously though, sounds good. It'll keep everyone happy, wanting or not wanting the titles. Although I doubt people will actually use it... Unless they are only members. Most people with high titles wouldint use it. They dont want to loose their aristocratic titles here.
