The Forerunner, the Great Journey, and Heaven Theory

[Announcement Trailer] Halo: Forerunner

Posted by: Agustus
I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

The bad thing about soapboxes is that they are so easy to build.

Edit: Oh, my opinion, right. I'm not better than you because my title says I am (implicitly or otherwise); I'm better than you because I am me and you are not.

We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had.

I honestly can't believe how upset people get over something as petty as forum titles.
But then again, this is the Internets.

Do you guys think that the forum titles should be deleted. The forum titles are suppose to be fun , but of coarse the community turn it in to something else. Users are beginning to turn the titles into some serious thing. They think just because someone is a mythic member they are suppose to be the Veterans of this site and guide us.
Users should leave the titles as just that titles. Users shouldn't make a big deal because someone is a higher title than them. I've talked to so many new or regular members who know just as much as any Mythic out there. I've seen users on the site who think that the higher the title the more they know. What do you think community?
Edit I don't really mean getting rid of them, but we need to stop taking them so serious.
What else did you expect? The internet is serious business.

;-)

Got a question, comment, or concern? PM me.

If I said I didn't care about titles I'd be lying. This would be cool if there was a toggle switch for them like with your Xbox Gamertag. I would keep mine on though to be completely honest.

  • 01.01.2012 3:37 PM PDT

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

If Bungie decided to give me a seperate completely custom account with a custom title and any color text, I would still prefer posting actively on this account. This account is important to me and I've put a lot of work into this account. I can't help the fact that I'm Mythic. No one wants to say it but their is truth in the fact that some are jealous of Mythics. I was SUPER jealous. If I were demoted, I would want to be Mythic again very badly.

Go ahead, say this is a perfect example of Mythic elitism. In all honesty, I don't feel any better than a regular member in any way. I really don't see any Mythics flaunting their titles in a serious manner. Sure a Mythic may joke, but it is only because of the widespread crying over spilt milk. Titles do not deserve this level of argument.

Do you understand that ANYONE and EVERYONE has the ability to be a Mythic member eventually? It is your fault if you didn't join as early as others or if you have a ban history, it is your fault.

Dianna Agron is the epitome of perfection.

Quinntology.

You know, if I was like the rest of my Mythic brethren, I would totally make fun of you for your poor grammar, horrible sentence structure, and questionable spelling. But I'm not, I'm not. I have to say though, the whole lot of us are a bunch of malicious individuals who have nothing other than the destruction of the lower members and the future of modship.

Yeah, out with the titles because the Mythic members are out of control.

I just saw a green monkey nut shot a small tan lizard(?) in a gunny sack.

Seems like all the people that advocate the removal of titles are either jealous of those with higher titles because they appear to curry the favor of the mods, or they don't like the attitudes of those with higher titles, or they're simply jealous.

No thank you, I'll keep my title.

Do you know about time travel?

Let those who take them seriously take them seriously. Let's not completely remove titles because of a few people who complain about their title dropping or because they believe that title shows wisdom and status among the community.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

Titles are strictly for fun, nothing more. I don't see anyone taking them too seriously unless they're trying to get one.

He's saying that using the "Mythics think they're better than everyone" argument is invalid, because everybody has the potential to be a Mythic member. It'll take time, but we all have the potential.

Now, this is baseless conjecture since nobody understands the system, but I severely doubt this is the case. A good system would have a quota of users in each.

Unless you really mean to imply that people should've just registered earlier. Then I'm going to look at you and laugh at the fact that you're treating your mythic status like an old miser treats his money.

Actually I'm Canadian! But yes, I get the idea of what you're saying. That might not've been an accurate interpretation of what he was trying to say, but I get the idea. I'm not going to put words in his mouth, though; that's bad. Tsk tsk.

I think what he was trying to say was that Mythics are not better than anyone simply because they have an achieved a goal that we have not.

We all have the potential to be the President (assuming you're American). Does that mean we can't claim that he doesn't give a crap about the average citizen?

Don't answer that with specifics, you don't need a free vacation from Bnet.

We miss you Logan.
Ask any question. I'll help with anything on site or off.

Don't get me wrong it's not the Mythics that make me wan't to get rid of the titles. I just don't like the titles system.

I do admit people take them out of context, but I feel every forum should identify people who use them more often (not just Bungie.net). I've been pulling for Achronos to change it to forum pimps and pirates, but so far he leaves my pms unanswered.

Just an idea off of the top of my head... but curious as to what people think.

Imagine a user option to "opt out" of titles. And when you do, you don't see the titles of any members. Everyone (except the web team and ninja) shows up as "member". But by selecting this option, the displayed title for the member (to those who are opting in and seeing/displaying titles) is something to indicate that they "aren't playing the game". For example, the term "Member" but the text of the title is in gold to show that they don't want their title shown and they can't see (and don't care about) yours.

This is a cool idea. It lets someone opt out, but it keeps the titles for everyone else.

Did I imply you should have joined earlier? Maybe I implied the fact that some people need to realize a Mythic member probably joined at a much earlier date? But simply because I joined earlier than some makes me no better than others.

Now if I would have stated that last paragraph and I was a Heroic Member, you wouldn't have replied in the manner you did. You over analyze everything I said solely because of the fact that I'm Mythic. It honestly aggravates me that I can never take place in a tdiscussion about titles simply because my opinion is "biased" and I say everything based on the fact that "I feel I'm more important to the community" because my title is blue.
