Do you think there should be a mapmaker because some people may not like the maps on the game and it is a good way to get what you want.

Back in my day we didn't have no fancy lasers, and the hogs were indestructible!

Yes would add far longer life and Bungie wouldnt get bothered constantly by people moaning for new content.

Yes, but on PC, then transfer the map to the 360 hard drive. This would save bungie trouble, b/c otherwise fans would be whining for more maps for posterity.

I would love a map maker, but im pretty sure they would need ALOT of content to be able to use, so that people don't find the same idea(s) all the time.

I would be against it because i would hate downloading a new map every time i enter a room. For anyone who has played FarCry Instincts knows what i am talking about. It would be great but think about how many crappy maps would be out there and their creator would think they pwn and everyone would want to play their map. Sure there would be some good maps, but i will leave mapmaking to the pros at Bungie.

Meh, it is just another toy. If they made it I'll enjoy it, but if they don't make it I won't miss it.

Halo maps aren't made by a "Raise terrain here, lower terrain here" editor.. If you want to make one, go for it. :)

It sounds cool, but think of Far Cry. It's not even fun, and it takes too long to download (usualy retarded, and never great) maps from people. It would also require a Hard Drive, or lots of RAM, which isn't feasable.

The only people that should be able to make maps are already hired at Bungie.

No. Bungie knows what they are doing. I think it would waste time and disc space to put some crapy map maker on the game. If they did it there would have to be a completely second disc just for multiplayer (something I'm not completely against). I just want to see Hang em High come back and I'll be happy.

I agree with OCA Killa. Even though a mapmaker would be totally awesome think of how many TOTALLY cr*p and poorly thought out maps random people would make and force you to use up all the HD space and time downloading them to play only to find they're rubbish. Anyone who's played Farcry knows what I mean. You'll find pretty much every game you play online you'll wait 20mins downloading this map that probably would end up being a big circle full of tanks and be totally rubbish. Then someone else would want to show off they're latest ... creation... and take up even more time downloading it. Granted there are some really good map designers out there but just let bungie do it. It's they're game and they know how to make awesome maps. Either that or dont allow the maps to be put online.

well yes and no , it takes awhile to make a map and it would take buungie awhile to make a map maker but on the other hand people wouldnt get bored of halo 3 as quick bcuz they would always be able to try new things like halo 2 playing custom gametypes custom gametypes on custom maps pretty amazing what u could do

A map editor is a terrible idea. Static maps are the way to go but with much greater depth. Destructible barriers and doors. Underground tunnels. Rooftop access. Day, Night & Weather. Destructible lights. Destructible generators. Gates that open & close. Flares for nighttime raids or dark tunnel access. Smoke grenade for strategic movement. The ability to go prone. Natural concealment such as bushes, grass, etc. Lights on the vehicles for nighttime driving. Lights on the underside of Banshees to spotlight enemy movement. Sniper perches. Large, non-linear maps. Armored Personnel Carriers (APC) for rapid assaults on large maps. APC's could be used to carry personnel or small vehicles like ghosts or ATV's. Vehicle cloaking rather than just character cloaking. Triggerable active camouflage that weakens or drains shields rather than the standard "power-up" type. Different advantages/disadvantages to character models like Elites and Spartans. Most people don't even play Elites anymore because they are disadvantaged. What about a triggerable alarm system that can be manually turned on by defenders and/or attackers when the base is being breached.

I don't want Bungie to spend the time creating editable maps when they can put their efforts into making maps and gameplay with depth and immersion. Map editors usually don't deliver the same quality maps that static maps offer. In reality, we don't very often get to choose the field of battle... but we do get to choose how we interact with the battlefield we're on. That's what I want. Interaction, depth and immersion.

omg!

yes and no, the feature of creating a map would be awsome, however this would be verry enoying to download each game. but now when bungie are done with halo 2 i think they can do more maps to h3 after relese! :P also to have a map contest could be great where serius people send in maps and drawings of their ideas for a map and win the map and get it to xbox :P

that would be fun

No way, no way at all. It would just dilute the experience, because if people entered a game and have to download the map, people would get pissed off. I did, and that was on things like CoD and CS...

Plus, out of the 30,000 maps made, only 3 or 4 are worth talking about.

This is a silly idea. If they did make a mapmaker than people would make a map so unfair to others and giving the creator all the benefits.
Or at least restrict it to split-screen only. I don't want to start a game of Rumble Pit and end up spawning on one side of a cliff with no way off while some jerk snipes me endlessly.

Thos are some of..... the WORST ideas I have ever heard. Seriously, you should be ashamed of yourself. Not to mention how badly that would ruin the game.

Actually, I agree. I think some of those are tight ideas. I don't know about APC's or vehicle cloaking. But everything else sounded good. Playing in night time with flares and warthogs with spotlights and headlights. I love smoke grenades in call of duty 2 to get out of the way of snipers. That would work perfectly seeing as everyones always whining about snipers. As far as everything else with underground tunnels, rooftops, stuff like that, it would just have to be a level with atleast 16 people playing. Because levels that big and that immersive seem like they would serve no purpose in your 8 player game.

And a map editor would be awesome if you could design it on your computer, and all the players didn't have to download the map to play it. But, ofcourse you would have to...

that would rule you could make a small map for close combat or a large open area for war matches

Absolutely no vision.

Let’s give you an image. The map is an urban setting much like Turf. It’s night time and the streets are bathed in shadows, broken only by the piercing glow of the base spotlight. One of your comrades is manning the spotlight, sweeping the street for signs of intruders. So far, so good. Everything is quiet. Too quiet. Then a blue orb arcs through the air, followed by another landing near the generator. For a split second the whole area is awash in a rich shimmering blue glow, rippling off the base walls and then a blinding explosion rips the generator apart. The lights are snuffed out. A sillouette emerges from the night running across the shadowed street. You lift your battle rifle and fire at the figure. You can see your red hot rounds rip into the intruder. Too late, you realize it’s a decoy as burst fire sounds from inside the base. You turn, spark a flare and toss it near the east entrance. A bright red light fills the base and you see a comrade lying lifeless in the east doorway. One… two… three Elite soldiers dart out of the doorway into the base. The base has been penetrated. Muzzle flashes erupt seemingly from everywhere. The defenders begin lobbing frag grenades in the direction of the attackers. You can hardly tell what’s going on. It looks like a crate of fireworks has gone off. Muzzle flashes, red flares, purple shards of light ricocheting off walls, blue plasma grenades, frag grenades, red plasma rounds, battle rifle tracers… a random rocket streaking from the second floor and then, as suddenly as it began… it’s over. You turn your helmet light on and survey the area. All three attackers are dead as are four of your comrades. You turn and, to your dismay, the flag is gone. Darting out the front door you see the flag carrier climbing into one of the base warthogs and then, tires squealing, the vehicle fishtails down the street… headlights swaying back and forth. A distant toot of the warthogs horn lets you know that you’ve just been owned.
