Subject: You are Writing the Next Halo Novel...

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

What is your novel going to be about? What questions would be asked? What questions would be answered? What characters would you introduce? What characters would you kill? Etc etc.

Include whatever you want.

My Halo novel:

A picture book with erotic scenes involving Cortana, Johnson, multiple Grunts and Jackals. They would all die at the end.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

I would write about the Brutes and maybe the Elites.

  • 01.01.2012 1:18 PM PDT

This.

Except, y'know, I'd re-write the first thirty chapters or so because they're pretty poor compared to the recent stuff and break canon from time to time. And I'd put more effort into it.

Do not waste your tears, I was not born to watch the world grow dim. Life is not measured in years, but by the deeds of men.

We should know better, because we are better.

A book focusing on the years 2530-2540 (years which are almost completely ignored) with a particular focus on space combat and the Assembly.

Sure, it's not bad. But I can write a lot better, even compared to the chapter I released just last week. I don't put too much effort into my fan fiction; I write a story, not literature.

I don't believe in a distinction between story and literature. All stories are literature in my opinion. Of course there are some truly atrocious examples of fiction which don't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as others, but in general I don't believe in any distinction.

A novel focusing around the Assembly would be very interesting. However, I only really read the summaries on Halo books. Never fancied picking them up before. Might grab them all for my birthday or something.

Add me if you like!

I'd tell nylund to do it for me

I would focus on Chief, kill him in the book, then Halo 4 would have a completely different character.

:D

My honor student can beat up your honor student.

I would write a detailed description of the inner workings of ONI during the Covenant-Human War in the style of letters, memorandums, in-progress-reports, and journals. And, at times, the Assembly's imput on ONI's actions.

I would specifically target ONI's policies on which systems were deemed appropriate to protect or not, various weapons programs such as Sabre testing, black-ops carried out by Grey Team and/or Noble Team, Forerunner ruins that were both salvageable/unsalvageable, and conclude with the construction of the UNSC Infinity, the Spartan IV Program, and exploration of unknown space outside of both human of Covenant reach.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

A novel with every piece of information you could possibly want/need about NOBLE TEAM.

Operations, battles, how the unit began, why the first NOBLES were the first, the following replacements, the death of teammates and the circumstances, problems, armor upgrades, Six's involvment in the SABER program, the life of each NOBLE team member as a Spartan III and before that. Behind the scenes chat's with the squad members about varied topics; fallen teammates, the replacements, past operations, debriefings, etc. Pretty much flesh out NOBLE TEAM the way they should have been; music, art, preferences, foods, hobbies, anything.

Expressing my strong liberal views without shame. Favorite quotes below:

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."
"One starts to live when he can live outside himself."

- Albert Einstein

Spartans are my favorite part of the Halo Universe, if not for the reason they are extremely emblematic of heroism for humanity. I'd likely write about them in the midst of the Covenant-Human war.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I've had this idea going around in my head for a year or two now. I started, like, three chapters of it but gave up on it. It's about Master Chief's brother who was selected for the SPARTAN-III program. O.o (Chief doesn't know he has a brother.) I know it sounds silly and probably isn't even possible with canon considered, but whatevs.

Also, I've had many different ideas for an ODST novel.

Props for actually beginning a novel, most people never get round to that ;)

I don't have anything all that solid. Just scattered thoughts. I had a certain idea about ODSTs trying to survive a Flood infested city (sorta like the Mona Lisa). But, that seems a bit unoriginal. I've also had ODSTs involved with the Master Chief brother story. Having ODSTs find something that links to the manufacturing of a Covenant super Scarab (like seen in Halo Wars). Plus, a New Mombasa tale about a particular ODST who goes AWOL. Again, nothing really solid. Just scattered ideas that are a bit different and may be interesting.

An ODST who goes AWOL could be very interesting. Perhaps something to do with him/her uncovering some hidden ONI or UNSC truths, maybe.

Agreed. I think I'd have the most fun writing about that.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

I would write about Balaho after the war
