Subject: Bungie looks for Economy Designer - future project related?

@spawn031

"So much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by ourselves, so it's gratifying to have something you have done linger in people's memories." John Williams

Credits to Nirolak over at GAF for the original thread posted today
First of all if you aren't caught up in the new Development and theories of Bungies next project - knowledge is power.

So I happen to notice a thread on GAF that popped up and linked to a particular article on Bungie.net.

Bungie is hiring an Economy Designer? - For WHAT? :)

After reading some speculation on that other thread I mentioned, turns out that Dan Miller posted a few months back that apparently he is no longer a "Mission Designer" for Bungie.

Posted by: Dan Miller
I should've rephrased this:

I was a mission designer for Halo 3, ODST and Reach.

We no longer have 'mission designers' at Bungie- so I am not that anymore.

I think you guys are just messing with us though. Are those positions the same thing? Or is this something that hints at your current unveiled project? Maybe I'm just getting lost and ahead of myself :P

Subject: Bungie.....icwhatudidthar :P

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Maybe Bungie's game will focus a lot on money?

Space business men? :3

I think it will have a lot economical features such as buying, selling, and making in-game content. hopefully for in-game money and not giving my credit card number for hats.

We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had.

I like were this is going.

2/15/12: Francisco Porras, I'll miss you. Rest in Peace.

It's Spice and Wolf: The Game.
If you didn't know S&W is an anime with a lot of economics in it.

OT: This sounds interesting. No mission designers, I wonder what that means.

So we get a hot, female furry companion?

Should have massive appeal.

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

Eeeeek!

It only takes a simple question to change everything.

Hopefully it will allow players to run the economy of the game. I loved the way phantasy star universe allowed players to run their own shop.

Yeah, if it is an fpsmmo like speculated, there will need to be some sort of economic system.

  • 01.01.2012 5:30 PM PDT

For the record, that Economy Designer job listing has been up on Bungie.net for about five months. :)

Economy Designer?

Must be preparing for the post-step-seven world.

We dont want our new currency going the way of the Euro. =D
