I was browsing Reddit, and came across this.

Bungie is not a villain, but I think it is referring more to Halo, or to be specific, the last 2 games.

Reach, in my opinion, was great. I think that the majority view is shifted towards the other side though. What do you think? Did bungie go down as a villain?

Last 2 games?
People just don't appreciate ODST for some reason...

fear me, for i am pro sauce

i think bungie could be on there because:

-the made reach
-didnt attempt to fix it properly
-then sold the franchise

I appreciated it, but I cannot say it was to the studios fullest, nor did it keep up with what modern games had to offer.

In the Bungie Podcast, they have discussed that they wanted to end Halo after Halo 3. However, their contract with Microsoft required that they make at least two more Halo games, then hand off the series.

With ODST, they had some fun, and explored a new concept and story. Then they had to make one more, and made Reach. Reach was a great game, just not a great Halo game. How hard would you work on a game that you didn't want to make?

Even with the comparative low quality of Reach, they did one thing right. The Networking. They used Reach to work on things for their next game. When making the game they didn't want to make, they were thinking ahead, so that in the future, they may give us another great game.

So, in the end, I don't really think that Bungie belongs in that picture.

Rare was probably the best game developer when they were with Nintendo. They go to Microsoft and look what happens to them.

The 343 forums suck. They're full of retarded kids and mods who got butthurt in the B.net forums for being told that they're bad.

ODST should have been 40 bucks like CEA, not 60. However, that isn't Bungie's fault, altho I don't know how hard they fought against that (if they even did).

Reach, I can just tell that the effort was lacking. Too many small technical problems and overlooked glitches, too many large-scale problems, and overall just bad development led to a very disappointing Halo game. Really, the only saving grace is the netcode, and even that still has problems.
