Yes, but Cortana in the context of her use is not a true weapon, other than intel. The fact that the sword of Edward the Confessor was named Curtana makes your theory moot.

Cortana is also a copy of Halsey's brain. So that means she has the same thought processes and so on... How do you explain that in the sword theory?

Hey, I have a theory for the Sword Part...

ITS ALL FIGURATIVE!!!

She says shield and sword, because when you think about it, the combination of both shield and sword come to an equal balance of protection, which Cortana has given to MC. Think about it this way...if it wasn't for Cortana, would MC be where he is? She has defended and helped him overcome, "a.k.a. the sword part," his enemys with useful information and interaction with the environment. I could go on to name instances in the games where this happens, but I think you know them already.

So when you people of the source theory ask for a connection between sword think of it the way I provided. The way your thinking of it is way to literally.

since I think its "sword sourcerer" it might be Swords, maybe like they are 2 ot 3 people talking at once.

Good Idea, Indykid.

However, the fact that she provides the Chief intel is the "shield" that allows the Chief to best determine his own course of action while putting his life in minimal danger.

It still isn't totally usable, because it can be solely applied to shield.

You are also forgetting the Halsey connection.

Although it would be logical to assume that shield and sword go hand in hand, I believe that sword is being said, with an underlay of source. Sword is obviously a reference to fighting, which the Chief has done all his life, and as Gunshark said, source could be a reference to Halsey. Or, is trying to imply that she is the way he should seek information. (Sorry to bring up an old topic again!)

Sword vs. Source - Why not both?[quote]

Because Bungie (Well, Marty..) already said, it is Sword. If a Bungie Employee says it is so, it is so.. there is no sense in argueing over a fact. But hey, do as you like..

Marty confirmed it was sword, not source. Read the articles that bungie posts.
Edit: Beaten to it :(
