it would be cool if your suit developed scratches during the game...like if your shields go out and you get hit by a pice of crystal or somethig...then a scratch, if you get shot by plasma then a scortch. Or, if you start the game with armor in the same state as in the end of halo2, but you develope scratches from cut-scene to cut-scene.

anyway, i think a fable-like character development (only to the extent of the amrour damage) would be unique and worthwile. But still, you guys see that huge gash in his suit on the left breast piece! thats crazy!

Yeah his armor is pretty screwed up in the Trailer but for all we now that might be the last mission in the game and his armor would be beat to hell through the course of the game.

thats what i figured...did i make it sound like he got those at the begining? i guess so, i just want the scratches to happen in real time if thats not too hard for bungie...or to detromental on the already developed storyline.

That would be a good idea, but what if you were starting from a level in the middle of the game? How would the game determine the scratches on your suit? But if you were to get that based on gameplay, some players would have completely balckened or damaged suits by the end of the game, and that would not look so good...

it sure would be funny. and if you could use the same armor in MP it would show seniority!

but yeah, thatd be funny, some guy coming online missing an arm and a leg....lol

This would be pretty useless. First thing, you wouldn't be able to see the scratches. First person view, remember? Unless you're assuming you see them in the cutscenes? Oh well, it might be a good idea...I don't like it but, hey.

i figured it would be cool if other people could see your MC in your gamercard or such...like synchronize your halo 3 likeness on your gamercard...and then go into multiplayer with scratches that are tottaly unique and possible scary (like a scratch in your visor or a crack or sometihng). i know it would probably get a few people angry...maybe there can be an option to turn off the scars and then turn them on to refresh the armours look (multiplayer only). again, if this were implimented it would have to be balance like everything else.
