Tell you guys what. When I get the time, which will either be later today or tomorrow, I'l make twp threads. One on Bnet, and one on Halo Waypoint. These threads will be advertising an XBC game. If I don't get more than 10 people to join then it proves that nobody cares as much as they would like to think they do.
Good. That's what needs to happen. I'm really hoping that it turns out people do care more.

I'm even considering asking The Flood if they would like to join. I'm desperate to see that people care.

I wouldn't doubt you'd get a lot of hits off it... It might be off-topic for that forum, though. :X

If you're hosting an XBC Halo 2 session, I would be happy to play...if I could ever get the darn thing set up D:

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

I can dual host on XBC and Kai for ya.

What a bunch of children. Let's prove people don't care about H2 by offering them an inferior product. Lol, that will prove nothing except that people do not accept inferior products.

Jacob - When H3 came out H2 was still popular enough to eat into MS's profits somewhat. They didn't like the constant comparisons of H3 MP to H2 MP. They will not make that mistake again and CEA is an example.

MS did not give CEA a stand-alone MP because they said they didn't want to divide the Halo fan base. They didn't need an older game overshadowing Reach and they accomplished that goal. When H2A is remade it will be the same, they will not give us the H2 MP because it might be a little too popular and would divide the Halo fan base. Not hard to understand, they want to make sure any remade game will not overshadow the next installment.

What I see is several trolls that decided that somehow, if hoards did not join a Latin American Halo 2 game, it means nobody cares about Halo 2 itself. Lame.

This, although I do want to see a return of traditional Halo 2 multiplayer. It's highly unlikely though.

................

1. CE had no netcode, which is why they didn't do a multiplayer mode for it. Try playing on Xlink Kai with someone far away, you will suffer input lag. Halo PC had netcode designed for 56k internet, so while it's low bandwidth, you have to lead a lot. Nobody cares about your consparicy.
2. If they don't want to divide the community then why are lots of people on Kai, Halo PC/CE, Wars, and H3? MS is still making money whenever someone pays the $10 to play on XBL. Besides, CoD Classic didn't overshadow MW2.

So you're actually calling me a troll now? Really? Do you think I'm actually trolling? I'm not getting on here to hate monger. I'm not getting on here to get people stirred up. I'm saying this stuff to get people to get off their butts and actually attempt at keeping this game alive any way we possibly can instead of just whining about it. Yes, we ought to ask Microsoft for something, but we should also be spending our time making the best of what we've got at the moment.

I didn't say for people to join the Latin American Halo 2 games. I'm saying we need to revive the North American/European region channels. That we need to gather the Halo 2 community back together to play.

If they're not going to give us a multiplayer online version of Halo 2 then why do you think it would be best if it would die so they would make it? Then all the people wanting good online multiplayer would be disappointed while only the people who wanted the Campaign remastered would be happy... Looks like you have a bias agenda there, Grumpy.

What I'm saying is that when people don't even seem to give two -blam!-s about game nights for Halo 2 yet proclaim they would spend $100 for Halo 2 to be brought back online they're hypocrites. If these people really do love the Halo 2 multiplayer then why didn't they show any support at all to Grunty when he tried to gather up a game night? That's all I want. I just want people to actually care enough to keep game nights going so we can still enjoy the game together. All you're doing is saying "It'll be good if it dies off."

Don't start resorting to calling me a troll. I thought you were better than that. Only "children", as you called me, start calling each other names when they have disagreements. It's awfully pathetic of you to act that way.

Posted by: JacobGRocksA part of the reason they didn't put actual Combat Evolved multiplayer in CEA is due to them not wanting to split the Reach player base. That is in fact half the reason, but you are right about the netcode issue. That was the other half of the problem.

Whenever Frankie mentions Halo 2 in the terms of a remake to interviewers he always seems to be talking about the multiplayer side... The reason they created Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary was to celebrate the Anniversary of the Halo franchise in a whole. The Campaign was the main focus of Halo: Combat Evolved so they felt that was the one thing they had to keep.

Halo 2's main focus point was multiplayer. The matchmaking system, the friend's system, the messaging system, etc. That's what Halo 2 is most noted for in the series and 343i knows that. If they were to do anything for Halo 2 it would probably be focused on multiplayer.

You are forcing another of your opinions down our throats, slapping us around as it were. Now you want to yell to everyone that we don't care about H2 in the least because nobody plays Kai. Yeah, I'd say you are trolling at this point.

Kai - Users online - 943
- - Games - 733

Live - Users online - 20 million log-in every day.
- - 4 billion hours played over the last 8 years.

The point of this comparison is to say that nobody on this planet except 943 people think Kai is worth it. You are calling everyone hypocrites except those 943 people and I mean all games, not just H2. Kai is not popular for a reason, it is not just the H2 players.

The reason people want Live back goes way beyond Kai.

Give us a remake with:
Shadows fixed
New graphics, same game play
New MP maps as well as the originals
Live back (access to those 20 million people that log-on every day).

There's nothing hypocritical in those requests, pretty reasonable. Nothing to 'slap people around' about, people make choices and KAI and XBC do not fit the bill. Slapping people around is not going to do any good, who made you the judge as to when you slap people around or not?

Overall Kai is never going to be popular imo and it has nothing to do with H2. People not wanting to join a game is a byproduct of Kai itself, not a declaration one way or another about H2.

Jacob - you missed again pal; Marty said in an interview that 343 did not want to split the fan base by doing the work necessary to get the original CE MP maps on Live. Awesome that you know more than they do.

I'm not the judge and there is a reason why Kai/XBC aren't that popular. The main reason being that most people don't really know about it. Most people I talk to don't understand how to work a tunneling program. They're not as good as the Live service, but they're what we've got to work with.

I'm not forcing my opinions down people's throats. I'm not forcing people to believe what I believe. I'm just saying how I feel. You're trying to shut me up and call me a "troll" for disagreeing with your opinion.

You've already said many times you don't think they will never give us Halo 2 multiplayer on Live so stop using the argument about wanting Live back.

I do want Live back for Halo 2 and I've already stated that. That I fully support the idea of that. I just think we ought to try harder to keep Halo 2 online play alive through what we already have as well. It's just as important as making sure Microsoft knows that we want that.

You're trying to make me look so terrible... Like I'm judging people for wanting Live back. That's not what I'm doing at all. I'm judging people for asking for Live back while not even attempting to support the existing online community. People who claim they'd always play Halo 2 over any other Halo game any day yet they don't make an attempt to join game nights that people like Grunty put so much effort into creating.

Kai/XBC are not that bad. What's so bad about either of them? They can be complicated to get working, but after that they're pretty good. If you have a game night organized you can have a good number of players there as well. It's really fun and it's the same multiplayer everyone played back in the day. It's all up to the Halo 2 community to make game nights like that go well and I'm not seeing any effort from this community other than people like Grunty, InvasionImminent, and myself attempting that.

Marty? What the hell does the musical composer at Bungie Studios have to do with the decisions made by Microsoft and 343 Industries? I think you mean Frank O'Conner AKA Frankie.

Ah yes, Frankie and his point stands.

You let everyone know about how you felt about people not playing. Oddly, you yourself did not play but you gave yourself a good excuse but nobody else has a good excuse. So declared you, and you proceeded to slap people around. When called to task on it, you declared everyone hypocrites that did not play.

Sounds pretty forceful and unbending to me. You don't walk into a room full of people and slap them around and call them hypocrites and then expect them to join you for some good times.

Future comments are being set up here. People will keep asking for Live to be brought back and your hue and cry will be "Hypocrites, you didn't play H2 KAI." or Jacob will say "I don't even like the game and I've played more than you people."
I will counter you with Kai is a failure and can't give people what Live can give. Just look at the stats between Live and kai and you will see a successful enterprise vs a failure. Lol, and they can't even give it away.

LOL! Sorry, I'm on Kai right now with Dr Styx and re4thewin playing Halo 1 and 2.

As for Kai, it has more people then XBL did pre shutdown, that only had 300-400 on at once, and a lot of dead playlists.

You can't honestly compare Kai and Live. That's stupid to even think about. You're comparing people playing all the newer titles to a tunneling program that's focused around Halo 2 Xbox. If you want to actually compare it to Xbox Live then you can go back to how Halo 2 was before Live was shut down. Before it was announced that Halo 2 was going to be shut down there were only about a thousand or so players on it. That means it had about the same population as Kai does now.

I was pretty harsh with how I put things. I can admit that. My points still stand, though. If you love a game with such a passion to plea for there to be Live then you ought to stick with it through thick and thin. You don't just leave your lover if you're now living in an older home instead of the luxury suite in NYC you used to live in.

I did have a good excuse for not showing up to the game night. It is wrong to assume most people had bad excuses, but the truth is that there are rarely big turn outs for these game nights. When they're advertised hardly anyone decides to even attempt to join them. I, on the other hand, joined 2/3 game nights with Grunty. One wasn't even advertised and it was bigger than the one he has been advertising around here for quite a while.

Sorry for being so harsh. Just started to get a bit emotional over the entire deal. It pains me to see a game like Halo 2 get dumped just because it's not the luxury it used to be with online play. As a PC gamer (Not trying to compare PC/Xbox. Just talking about how things go for PC games/its players.) there are a lot of trials we often have to go through to keep our game alive. We often have to host new master servers once developers dump us. We never really give up on a game if we love it. We don't let the newer title kill off the population of the older title. I'd just love to see the same happen with Halo 2 and I know with a bit of influence this community can come together to make that happen.
