if they were that close y didnt he great his long lost friend so ur saying he just stood there and looked at his friend

i didnt say this was the first time they saw eachother in fact, they could have both been sent on a mission to find out what all the comotion is together and thats why MC recieved the message in his HUD, plus i dont think its lightnign cuz i my HDTV it looks more yellow than blue/purple/white.

true they could of been sent together on a mission but i really really doubt it sorry to shoot your theory down but i watched a little closer and i found some stuff that made a me a non believer

like they other chief would be wondering what that huge shockwave was and why the cliff just started to break apart

i agree that theres only one spartan there however:
Said the creator in an interview on -blam!- announcments page

If you look in his visor when he fist stps out it does look like there is a lot more land ahead of him before the cliff then when they show a zoomed out picture hes right on teh edge i'm not saying anything but thats just somehting to think about

I think I can (sadly) disprove the theory:

When the Spartan walks up to the cliff, he looks to his right. Then, while the camera sweeps behind him to the Covenant and the Ark(?), he takes a step with his left foot. This him in a position where one one foot points at the wreckage behind him and one foot points at the Ark(?). Then the cliff edge gives out, and he moves his feet backwards. He is now in a similar position where his right foot points at the wreckage and his left foot points at the Ark(?). If you drew a line between the wreckage and the Ark(?) it would pass through both of his feet. That means that his head is slightly turned, and not in the same place as the shot where he first looked to see the Covenant. When the camera zooms in on him again (for the last time), the camera is in a position where it would not be able to see the wreckage because of the cameras position relative to the head.

I realize that this may be hard to follow. I don't know how to export images from the video.

I would also like to say that the tree in the background of the first shot looks like something from the area of Mombassa. This leads me to believe that the reason the Covenant only attacked New Mombassa was because the Ark is underneath.

OK, Read this nice and slow. There is no other spartan in the video. If you got the SUper Large .TIFF Files from the xbox.com press E3 Press pics or whatever that pic of the spartan when it's up close on his face and visor is named something like "MC_CloseUp". Same here at Bungie.net I would beleive. (Just checked, it's h3_e32006_ChiefVisor.jpg here at Bungie.) The lights in the visor are from the LIGHTNING. Seriously people, come on.

Maybe Bungie doesn't want people to think there two spartans. How do you know there not another picture they didnt post??

Said the creator in an interview on -blam!- announcments page
Q
"I also noticed Master Chief's gloves had changed. Does that mean it's Mjolnir Mark VII?
A
We haven't revealed that yet . Don't jump to any conclusions."

I say its not Chief its another spartan that you are seeing. That is why Cortana is acting as if they had just met and that is why he has the old assault rifle because the other spartans were in hiding on Reach when the new technology came out so it would make sennce that they would stil have the old machine gun. And as for the Mjolnir maybe it looks dfferent because its an OLD suit not a new one.

OK, I'm getting kinda fed up with people talking all this crap. The Spartans on Reach were rescued by the Chief. It's kind of a long story. Anyway, the chief brings the Spartans back to Earth. And Reach is where the chief found the BR and Magnum and SMG. Even if it were an old suit, it would still be Mark V, which is what MC had in Halo:CE. And where exactly did it say the video was from 3/4 of the way through? STFU and pay attention. Read the books. If you have and it seems kinda foggy, and you can't remember, read them again. Hell, read them again anyway, they're good books. And you seem to have forgotten stuff anyway. Cortana is not acting as if they just met. It is the chief. Bungie has mentioned it in the QandA, the storyboards say CHIEF, and it is not a big deal that the gloves are different. It is definitely the Mark VI. STFU. The torso, helmet, and legs are the same. Are you telling me that between the Mark V and VI, they changed a -blam!- load of stuff, but VI to VII is only gloves? You are a retard on seven different levels. BTW, check your typing for mistakes, and go back to English class you high school drop out.

how is that proof? bungie also announced that there would be no halo 2 years ago into a magazine.. i personally remember reading it.. but wait we have it... and if im not mistaken they also denied the existance of halo 3 as a project up until gates blabbed... i would suggest no one discount anything until the game comes out simply because bungie has a tendancy to switch -blam!- on us at the last moment

Guys, it is the same Spartan. Even if you want to beleive it is a different one, I doubt Bungie would have them have the same body build, or just look the same. You wouldn't be able to tell who is who. While I'm not saying there won't be another Spartan in Halo 3, I'm just saying the trailer is just Master Chief. That's all. All I see in MC's visor is lightning flashes.

possible, but not likely.

Why would bungie ignore the books throughout the second game, and then just choose to use them in the 3rd?

i think i get what your saying, first of all the chief looks to his left not his right, and your arguement doesnt diprove my thoery because if there are two differant spartans then obviously their feet would be positoned differently, so if anything you're kinda helping my theory i guess. again, plz correct me if im wrong

I've known they've been making a Halo 3 all along, they just didn't want it to get out before E3, Some people thought the title was going to be Forerunner or Halo 3 Forerunner....(off topic)

unless we see the spartans in the next book or in the movie they gotta put em in h3... and i would say they werent in h2 because of the same reason single player sucked ass in h2... they were rushed and adding a third character like linda would have complicated everything

though the lightinig flashes support my thoery they are not really critical to proving it, i still dont think its lightning though, plus the spartans have very similar body build if you read the story.

"Do it right the first time" - Unknown

you know how when spartans comunicate they give that notice in the upper right hand side of the HUD, well if you have good resolution you can see it popping up right before he/turns their head. also right before the message popped up he/she nods thier head as if confirming something. so, my reasoning fo all this is that one spartan is communicating with another spartan after finding this loaction of excavation. they comminicate via mic then chief (or whoever) nods their head in acknoloedgement right before the location is sent via the message on the HUD

Yeah, about that. You see, that light that guy was talking about, it's not some kind of communication, IT'S the storm-lighting (You know the big hole up in the sky) that reflects on his HUD, you moron (not you, the other guy).

lol id rather trust the game than anything bungie has to say.. specially after h2 lol so honestly we can spew back and forth at eachother for days or we can shut up about the possible second spartan untill the game comes out next year
