I'm sure of the page number but it was when Chakas, Riser, and Vinnera were on the Forerunner transport for the first time. A bunch of Forerunner infected were on other transports and pushed past them. Eventually they were put in cages by green eyed monitors.

Chakas noticed little machines I believe he described them as fish breaking out of water, trying to hold back the infection. The Lord of Admirals was the one who identified it as a creation of the Composer.

Hmm. i see, i swore the armor holding back the flood was stated somewhere also..

Guys Don't say that you used torrents that is how Wolver got banned.

  • 01.10.2012 2:40 PM PDT

Waypoint Moderators aren't really Moderators, just power hungry and its goal is defend their beloved Halo at all costs. (Meaning that they wank Halo too much.)

BS Angel is alleged foe so, be wary of Waypoint and its moderators! Do not attempt to move to Waypoint. Enter your own risk.

*WARNING* IT IS MY OPINION.

I tried to make this post without seeing any spoilers because I've only just got the book, but for those of you who want the choice..

[/url]

Been there, done that, only with a torrent and 3 days ago.

Anyway, another brilliant book. Although

(SPOILERS)

The didact kinda released another primordial when he "executed" the first one...didn't he?

Don't say about that torrents! That is what it got wolverfrog permabanned from this site.

Grey, what's this talk about slipspace pods?

And could the Bornstellar relation possibly be a link to the genetic "anomalies" that Halsey looked for in the Spartan II's? Just a hypothesis...

I was wondering about the slipspace pods as well...could you mean the Bornstellar Relation was placed inside a slipspace pod like the one team Katana were placed in during Ghost of Onyx?

Hmm...a genetic lineage to Bornstellar, that would be interesting. I could see that being much more possible with the Lord of Admirals or another important human because of the geas.

The only question I have is how or why would they put there own "genetic code" into humans? Is this how Humanity can use Forerunner tech or is this what is considered a "true reclaimer", as mentioned in Primordium, other than reclaiming Forerunner technology. I know that Forerunners thought that ancient Humanity were genetically similar or at least thought that both were given shape and form by the Precursors but there could be more to it than that.

If it is neither, than I think the Bornstellar Relation is either a family member of Born's or one of his children with the Librarian. Pure speculation of course!

It means "relation" as in relating a story, not that they're actually related to him.

In other words, you guys have it all wrong, the "relation" is the first book.

Possibly..the way Bornstellar Relation is brought up in the book it could be perceived either way.

It could be similar to how Chakas/343's story is being conveyed, through a "dublicate" of some sorts or through some terminal/machine. On the other hand it would be much more interesting story wise for there to be a living Forerunner especially one related to Bornstellar/Didact.

No, it can't be perceived either way. It's a reference to the first book, anything else is silly. A son of the Didact would be a useless plotline, in both the books and the games, when there are already so many to explore.

On a less serious note, my favorite misspelling of Primordium on this thread is Primorodium.

I will be the first to say that we can use forerunner technology because of Humans having Forerunner Gea.

That also makes sense when in The Flood, Master Chief kind of "knew" what to push to turn on the light bridge.

I always loved that line.

Perhaps the lifeworker reworked Bornstellar/Didact into human DNA. Could be a method to either preserve her dead husband and/or allow the Humans to have some sort of advantage over the Flood, as she could be aware that the Forerunner are now on borrowed time.

I finished the book earlier today, so I'm still trying to comprehend everything. Reading this thread has helped with most things.

With so much important information compressed into the last pages of the book, it is very easy to overlook crucial details. I often worry that big revelations (Primordial being a gravemind, not being a Precursor; Chakas being a monitor, not being 343GS) are made in only a short sentence or two that something is going to get mixed up or misinterpreted. I would have preferred that, with such monumental revelations, things would have been reiterated in the book for clarity and absolute certainty. Instead, things have a certain degree of ambiguity around them now.

There were slipspace pods on Onyx that had "Things" in them other than the SIIIs, i think it could be a forerunner. And can we talk about the primordial being a "child" or whatever? i am not understanding that.

Ah, I thought that was what you were talking about, but wasn't sure. I suppose anything is possible. We'll probably just have to wait and see.

What the "child" is? I honestly have no idea! Definitely related to the Composer... But what the hell that thing could be, I have no idea. From what I can remember, it's related to forming Contender class AI's? Back me up on that; I have a feeling I read that in Primordial, but I could be mistaken.

It's old, too. Back in the Human-Forerunner war, as Lord of Admirals remembered it. Also may have something to do to an attempt to rescue infected Forerunner.

A primordium is an aggregation of cells.

Fits the definition of the Flood.

vinnerva's (forgot her name so she will be dubbed "The girl") Gea was leading them towards the primordial in which she stated talking about it being a child, a sad child or something. Forthencho Says that they come back as children and the composer was suppose to prevent that.

I have no idea what the hell any of that is suppose to mean.

It means we have to wait for the next book.

See ya next time, folks!

But seriously, I don't think there's enough evidence to support any solid hypothesis. Only conjecture.

  • 01.10.2012 8:44 PM PDT

Not sure if it was brought up in a previous post (because quite frankly, i am to impatient to read through them =P) but i was curious if anyone else knew if the ONI excerpts in the book took place after halo 3 on the timeline. It has to be because they mention the terminals found on the Ark.

If this is the case then how could the Chakas monitor be 343 Guilty Spark? We killed him at the end of Halo 3 didn't we? My theory is that his monitor is what we know as Offensive Bias, the AI created to defeat Medicant Bias when he attacks the Ark. Which would explain how he was found, because in the Halo 3 terminals he talks about bringing the main component of Medicant to the Ark for study.

Thoughts?

Read the last 3 pages since i don't feel like repeating myself.

  • 01.10.2012 9:20 PM PDT

Again, my apologies. I suppose I could have at least read the page before this one. Thanks for the clarity. I had also read that line in the book, but it just confused me i guess. Really disappointing actually, i'm not sure i like the idea that the 343 i loved from the games is really just a piece of someone else. i was under the impression that each monitor was created separately for the purpose of maintaining each Halo. Now i wonder which part we meet throughout the games. Obviously the one we kill is the troublesome part, but is it the same piece in each game?

I loved that idea, no, each monitor is a shard and probably has a Gea.

  • 01.10.2012 9:37 PM PDT

i suppose you have a point. Dont get me wrong, i find the concept very interesting and i hope its all explained more in the next book, i guess im just so used to the information we have been given before and still trying to process the new information, especially since some aspects overlap and partly conflict with each other.

That could be where the names for each monitor came from. Possibly, thoughts and feelings that Chakas had.
