Hellz Yeah! For custom games. I'd love to spam the level with explosive objects and have a maze. You know:

"Which way do I go?"

"Who cares. *throws grenade and destroys a wall* This way."

I'm one of those storm chasers that will never have a TV show because I don't scream at clouds.

A mapmaker isn't the kind of thing for Halo. For one thing, the maps are far too complicated to put an editor in. Plus, they are each so different that an editor would cause a long monotonous series of way-to-similar maps. After all, a game like Far Cry has a great basis for a map editor, seeing as every multiplayer level is basically just an island with stuff droped on, and it does a great job of mixing it up, but I'd rather just see the people who are paid to do it make the maps (that's bungie if you didn't get it).

To make it easy....imagine you're Bungie.

"Gee, I wonder if we should allow users to create their own maps to play in"

*concious kicks in* "Or....We could release the game without a map maker, create more maps a few months after release, and charge 5 dollars for them. Assuming all of the people who contributed to the 2.38 million copies sold on the first day alone (true figure for Halo 2) buy the maps, we will make nearly 12 million dollars. What sounds more appealing? Think realistically people, its probably not going to happen.

User Created maps on consoles SUCK.

1. Most of them look like $#@T
2. There are limited creative options
3. Lots of downloading
4. More lag because of mass downloading
5. No Profit for bungie whatsoever
6. Flood of crappy maps with 99999 worthogs and a flat terrain.
7. More time bungie must make for making the map editor.
8. Its just a plain dumb idea.

It's not that hard to make maps for Halo. After all, my friend made maps for Halo PC all the time. And with this new sychronization between PCs and 360s with Xbox Live, it is very possible to allow user to create their own content on their computers and then upload it onto Xbox Live Marketplace. Whether or not this will come to fruition will be based solely on what Bodezimmer was talking about. Bungie would most likely rather profit from maps it makes than have other users make their own. Plus, what would the software be like? I'm guessing a bit more technical than the average Timesplitters 2 mapmaker.

I do but I don't want them to be put on matchmaking. But I wouldn't mind if they would let us insert them in for a chance to be matchmaking maps if they are good enough. They can also make new maps that they can charge money for if they want and I won't complain.
