Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

this is the most ridiculous thing ever, solely because most mods lock things they belive are "nonlegit". so it would be something liek
this tread was locked at 12:59 by unnamed oppinionated ninja. lock reason: i belived that this post was close(but not infact breaking) the rules, so i figured seeings how im a godlike figure that im going to lock it. or thread locked because: i dont like the user who posted/am biased against his name
That is pretty much the basic template for the PM's that I would get.
Accused of;
personal bias
personal vendetta
incompetency
ignorance
arrogance
arbitrary exercise of power
abuse of power
overall poopieheadedness
I already get those for nearly every ban I place. Do I want even more for every thread that I lock?
Here's my take. If the topic was locked and someone other than the OP is wondering, it's not their concern. If the topic is locked and the OP is wondering, they should (in fact) be glad that it was just locked and they didn't get a warning or a ban (as an explanation).
If people would like, I would be happy to send a warning to the OP every time I lock a thread. Because I sure don't care about titles. I thought that locking a obviously lockable, but borderline rule violation and not sending a warning/ban to the OP/participants would be a "whew, it got locked so I know that I shouldn't have made it, it was a good thing and I am pretty lucky that I didn't get a message from The Soul."
If people want to change that.... well, I guess I could. But the OP's are going to get REALLY upset. They'll be informed, and they won't need to wonder why their topic was locked, they'll know and their title will show.
Do people REALLY want to go to that sort of practice? And then let me see, bans for creating a lockable thread, warnings for posting in one.... yeah, the Soul would be busy, but everyone would then KNOW what it was that was wrong.
