very good point about the spartan in the trailer being fred...however i dont believe so. the chief is the main character of the game and bungie has already said that it isnt any of the other spartans ( i trust them, they wouldnt lie to a believer in the faith). i think it would be diffrent however, if you could meet up w the other spartans and make them part of a "team", however unlikley and it prolly wouldnt fit...what i want to know is if 343 guilty spark is reffering to the artifact on earth as the Arch? that would let the Arbiter , commander Keys Johnson meet up w the chief to witness the end. but one thing i really want to see is the Prophet of Truth catch a bullet in the head and the chief say something like, "This is the end of your journey" lol one can only hope!
Master Chief was the main character in halo 1 then came out halo 2 he wasnt the main character Arbiter was well you played more LVLS as him and in the third halo they could bring back any one they want.

Someone just deleted my post about who it really is. Not just closed, but they erased it.

The spartan is really Master Chef.

dude, go to www.xbox.com, on the front page is a Halo 3 picture. click it. Then read the article, It says somewhere in there, "and out of the haze walked the most realistic Master Chief ever"

While I agree with the assumption that it is indeed the Master Chief, the Xbox.com editing staff most likely has no knowlege of Bungie's work. They are just making a common assumption.

To the person that talked about Bungie addressing the SPARTAN as Chief,

If you look at the article titled "Halo 3 Announced" Marty clearly says Master Chief.

Now I know someone is gonna whine "But Marty is just the music guy he doesn't know anything". Marty may just control the music of the game (as far as I know anyway) but, he works at Bungie. Since he works at Bungie, he knows the story. He knows all the details that you don't. Even the ones you should know.

I believe that isn't MC.

1. When did MC find time to get new armor? Last I saw the whole Ark thing was pretty urgent.

2.Where did the AR come from. See, I don't think the AR was left out exactly. The AR may just be a weapon associated with Reach. In Halo, the weapons were all from Reach and brought on the Pillar of Autumn. In Halo 2, Earth probably developed new weapons, so they never developed the AR or simply upgraded.

3. Putting all these together, I say it seems obvious that that Spartan isn't Chief. The other Spartans still have AR's from Reach. (Where we left them off
And assuming they survived along with Dr. Hasley, they could have upgraded armor.
