I've always thought that posts should be hidden to the user immediately when reporting. It will give the end users a more tangible experience and will encourage them to use it.
It would encourage them to use it, but it would be used for the wrong reason of just blocking someone's post.
Well the current system doesn't even add a post to the report queue until a certain threshold of reports has been met. So if someone just wanted to block a post it would only affect their experience.
Would the current system of reporting still be in effect though? If so, then I wouldn't see a problem with it.
I don't see why immediately hiding the post for the user that reported it would need to change the idea of having a threshold to make it into the queue.
Durr, sorry, I was thinking about something else. What I meant to say was that if someone would report the thread so it would be hidden to them, then the moderators would get reports of posts that aren't rule breaking if the post/user is annoying to enough people that they wouldn't want to see it/them.
