Subject: Thoughts On How a Halo Movie Should Be Handled

Posted by: westpointusma15
I think a CGI movie is the only way to make a decent Halo movie, like Halo Wars cutscenes or the CGI Resident Evil movies.

Oh yes! that solves all the problems of actors, Cos voice actors can be used.

Besides, the quality of those Halo Wars cutscenes was epic to the bomb. If the entire movie was in that quality, i would be a happy happy man.

Also for two HUGE reasons.

1) It would be cheaper to make. You wouldn't need all those pyrotechnics and props that a real life movie would require, in addition to multiple cameras and all that stuff.

2) It wouldn't look cheesy. Honestly, I can't imagine a live action Halo movie starting Spartans and the Covenant to be anything but cheesy looking.

"One starts to live when he can live outside himself."

I concur. The Halo Wars cutscenes were the first "impressive" cinematics in a Halo game; the quality was that of a movie.

You know, this DOES sound like a pretty good idea... I don't know, I guess I've just been enamored by the idea of a live action film like Blomkamp's short films for ODST... those were the sheetz when they came out. But the CGI style animated movie does sound pretty good, now.

Ok, come on, don't let this thread die out now... I gotta see if this thing can make the 100-post mark. And hearing everyone's opinions has truly been awesome...

This discussion has been going on for a while, in and out of the forums. My view has always been a bit sceptical of a Halo film. Although a part of me wants to see something done, mostly I cant envision how you could turn the story structure of the games into a viewable film without ruining the experience. Maybe one of the books would be a better idea as you shouldn't have to change the story AS much as any of the games.

Plenty of you will probably think I'm a crazy person, but I think the best place to start off a Halo film franchise is Contact Harvest. Before you pull out your torches and pitchforks, hear me out...

After reading your post Primo I definitely think this would be the most favourable method of making a successful Halo Film.

But honestly I can't see a Halo movie actually happening.

It would be sad to see it be produced as a Hollywood commercialised flop, which its likely to be. I wouldn't mind a underrated and underground producer to come up with something amazing for Halo but Microsoft would never have that.

I know! Hollywood would probably even try to include a completely nonexistent love story, and that would make the entire endeavor a complete embarrassment. But I really do think that, if the right people are up to the task, that it is a doable project. God, I really hope it comes through...

Well as long as there isn't a bollywood version.

Or some kind of messed up love theme between Chief and Cortana.

Or worse, a love triangle between Chief, Cortana and The Arbiter.

But CGI seems the way to go if Microsoft want a movie that will make money but still be enjoyed by fans.

Jawldee is going to run you over in his pick up truck.

That makes like, no sense. Isn't the rule of screenplay that one page equals one minute?

Pretty much give or take 30 seconds.

If a Halo Movie was made, Halo Wars' story would be a good start. It is set right after the CH story, and the games intro even gives a quick recap of what happened. That way, you get what started the war and why the events taking place are taking place. Just alter parts of it and it could be truly great.

Then you would move on to the events of Halo CE and so on so forth.

It should be about master chief destroying a halo ring, sort of like the Halo CE campaign, but a film version instead. As long as it would include halo music and real voice actors and real-life-action sequences with grpahics similar to Avatar, I'd be sure as hell to watch it.

Hold on a sec... by "CH," did you mean Contact Harvest? Or did you make a typo while meaning to say "CE?" Because if you meant Combat Evolved, that's not right at all, but true if you meant Harvest.
