Subject: Been replaying Combat Evolved

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

I have replayed the campaign up until the beginning of the Library

With background knowledge, its a lot easier to navigate. And its also been quite fun.

I managed to get a banshee on AotCR. And i discovered the pistol is very effective against Wraiths.

So yes, the 'maze' stuff isnt exactly true.

A sudden U-turn on your previous statements?

Exactly like I said before. His opinion means absolutely nothing. He flip flops easily. He went from hating Halo 2 to absolutely loving it. He's just an over-dramatic little kid. I knew this was bound to happen at some point as well.

This would be the second time. I'm learning that you really can't criticize the classics. :)

I wouldn't say you can't criticise the classics, but to make idiotic statements such as "it's only good because it was a relic" or "this games trash because all the levels are mazes, it's too hard" is downright stupid.

I could put faults to most of the Halo games but I'm willing to respect people's opinions etc, this guy as Syx said has been trolling Halo 2, sold it for lunch money because he hated it that much and now all of a sudden has become a fanboy. He's doing exactly the same with CE right now. Reiterating what Syx said, his opinions are now meaningless...unless he has a legitimate question.

  • 01.04.2012 9:49 AM PDT

Maybe he hasn't even played it.

Yes lol.

Dont get me wrong, i dont suddenly love it like Halo 2, its just that maybe i was a bit harsh at first.

There are still levels i hate, like Truth and Reconciliation, and 343 Guilty Spark (which i managed to navigate through first time when implayed again). Maybe its because i was having too much fun in a banshee on AotCR

That seems to be a trend with you. Ought to stop doing that or you'll find yourself in trouble when you do that to the wrong thing. That girl you thought you hated and you trashed her for something? Later on you find out she's awesome, but she hates your very existence now that you've been a complete ass to her. How will that work out for you?

(By the way, with how you've done this to two games in the same franchise I can guarantee you've done this many times to things that truly matter in real life. Just sit back and think about it for a moment. Thank me later)

Well, actually the only reason i turned to love Halo 2 was because i played the whole campaign and realised it was great. Before i was just being an ignorant ass and judging it from two levels which i didnt like

At least with CE i have practically completed it (near the end of the Maw) and i still dislike it. Apart from AotCR

That's the problem I'm talking about.

At least with CE i have practically completed it (near the end of the Maw) and i still dislike it. Apart from AotCRYou still rushed to extreme judgement on it. Instead of going "Eh, I didn't like it that much." you went full force "This game is just a giant confusing maze. It's a load of -blam!-."

Yes i suppose

I think i should probably add that a lot of that was butthurt from dying on AotCR lol. Plus getting lost on Guilty Spark.

My new years resolution should probable be to analyse everything before jumping to a false prejudist conlusion

CE is the BOMB!

The original game, I dont have a 360 so its CE and H2 for me, is so flexible in how you can play it, it is amazing.

Sure, I will go to H2 for a while, as I have for the last month, but that is only to try and make certain unbearable skull combos and see how far I can get. But I always come back to CE, and realize how much I missed playing it. There are so many tricks and challenges left to conquer. I only recently discovered Jumprs (thank you Grumpy!) and there is so much you can attempt it is silly sick.

Yes, for people who came to CE after they had played the other games it presents a very different set of things to make the game seem harder or less enjoyable. But if you started on CE, and moved from there, most of those people hold it in high regard.

I personally think that Halo, AotCR and Two Betrayals are the only levels which are replayable. The rest are kind of dull to me

Also if you have never had a 360 then i recommend getting one, Halo 3 is great, as his ODST and personally I like Reach but many Halo 1 and 2 fans dont so you may not like it.

I started with Halo 1 and played Halo 3 subsequently. Several years later, I met Halo 2. The trilogy is superb altogether but the 2 sequels are somewhat disappointing. Then came Reach. Brought that combined total of 8/10 (excluding ODST) to 4/10 (to me that is).

Don't forget Halo 3 fans. Most Halo trilogy fans have bias towards Reach because it's 1. an insult to Halo 1, 2. enemy of Halo 2, and 3. demolisher of Halo 3's improvements.

How?

It insults Halo 1 by trying to be like it.

It became Halo 2's enemy when Bungie disowned H2 in their vidoc.

It destroyed Halo 3's progress: vehicle collision was improving, friendly AI were becoming more useful (except Elites. They only received very, very minor improvements), the weapons were actually usuable, even the H3 magnum. And even though there were only 2 of each grenades, at least I could actually kick ass without them. It also took unfairness to a whole new level.

No I'm not taking this seriously at all. I don't hate Reach with the intensity of a thousand suns and want to wipe out it's existence because I think it's pure evil...

Maybe not, but I do. The game is terrible and even though 343 improved it by using common sense and actually listening to the players, it was like trying to make feces look less like feces.

I personally look at the series this way:

CE > ODST > 3 > HW > 2 > dog -blam!- > reach

You think that Halo Wars is better than Halo 2? You think Halo 2 is the second worst game?

WUT WUT?

Theres also another thing i dont like about CE, the terrible checkpoints.

On the final hog run, there isnt even any checkpoints.

And another thing, rolling over in a warthog kills you, and then you have to do the whole thing again because of the checkpoints.

False. Under some circumstances, you'll get a checkpoint around when Foe Hammer comes.

And another thing, rolling over in a warthog kills you
If you're driving carefully, and reacting well to roll initiations, you should:
1-survive rolls the vast majority of the time, and
2-not actually roll all that often.

//============

Also, the Maw Run is, IMO, one of the least annoying segments in the series to do several times in a row. I even have a legendary Maw Run save on my oXbox so that I can fire it up whenever.
