I'm new to competitive Halo and Halo itself (Reach being my first video game ever actually). Message me if you want to play;

Reach: MLG, Arena, Doubles, BTB and customs.
Halo 3: Ranked MM and customs.

Also I have every Halo title and all of its DLC on the Xbox 360.

Most people on the reach forum have not played many other halo campaigns.

Just to revise my post, since people are doing explanations.

CE / ODST for originality, story, and Marty proving how amazing he is at creating music for a new game.

3: replayability...not so much a real word, but other than CE I've probably spent more time in 3 than any other campaign.

2: cliffhanger left me wanting more, the things they had to rush and leave unfinished was disappointing, and damn those jackal snipers. Music was probably my favorite OST (ODST second), Follow/Heavy Price Payed/Mombassa Suite/Blow Me Away etc., but it didn't have that genius feel that Marty gives off in ODST/CE.

Reach: pretty much just...decent. I didn't find it bad, but it didn't give me the sense of new and interesting as ODST/CE, or be as exciting to play as 3/2.

Wars: haven't much cared for the genre since Warcraft 3, story wasn't anything to remember.

Reach.

I really enjoyed playing with a different look on my spartan every now and then.

Halo 3. The battles in that campaign were epicly huge.

Halo 2!
Least favorite was 3.

Hard to pick between 1-3. They all have their moments for me. One of my favourite 'unseen' parts is where half-jaw decimates Truth's fleet and brushes it off as another day at the office.

Greensleeves

Tied between ODST and Halo 3.

Halo CE: it's only about the nostalgia, not much else.
Halo 2: Pretty good, playing as the Arbiter was immensely enjoyable.

If they don't suck it at first, just thrust and thrust til they do

its close between halo 2 and halo 3. But halo 3 was my favorite because it was the most epic of the trilogy. Honestly if it wasn't for the graphics and the armory in reach i would have felt like i wasted my money

Mine is ODST. I love the atmosphere of the game. Fighting in the streets was exciting and I thoroughly enjoyed both the story/mission objectives and gameplay. The audio logs were a nice addition as well and I had fun collecting them.

I voted CE because that will ALWAYS be my favorite, but what you posted is exactly what I love about ODST. I just wish the campaign had been longer/more fleshed out.

Sometimes, I dream about cheese.

Halo 3: ODST's campaign was good but Halo 2 has something it will never have...

Somewhere between CE and ODST.

CE had the grittier dialogue that the series lost, it seemed that bungie became scared that they were going to offend someone by slipping in a mild "bad" word here or there. ODST is the prime example of this where they used the language of a child to cover up bad words and it just felt awkward.

ODST aside from the language barrier was well put together in terms of storyline atmosphere and difficulty. I hope that the next Halo game celebrates the M rating it is going to get anyways and does not try to turn itself into a fairy tale about a cute little green fella.

Combat Evolved. I haven't stopped playing it since it released.

  • 01.05.2012 6:35 PM PDT

Halo CE would be my favourite campaign.

ODST was my second fav and Halo 2 rounds out the top 3.

Unfortunately with Halo 3 and Halo Reach they just tried to copy what made Halo:CE good but that failed because of the simple been there, done that effect.

I liked them all except for Halo Wars.

  • 01.05.2012 7:03 PM PDT

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

Eh, what bad words would you be referring to in Halo 1?

Its just that in Halo 3 and Halo 3:ODST with the IWHBYD skull you can hear the brutes say the F word, they say 'Stupid f ucking human' and the grunts also say the word 'fudge packer' as well as 'bastard' being used quite regularly.

When i played Halo 1 i didnt hear that much bad language

Halo 2. Partly because it was my first Halo, I didn't have Live, and though I went back and played Halo CE, the campaign lost its flavor for me after 2 or 3 playthroughs. Halo 2 added so much new stuff, and what made the game for me was all the gliytchiness, the level skips, the spawning wierdness (Sniper Alley anyone?), and the big guns, big vehicles, lots of big bad guys. I can play it over and over and it never gets old. I can mess around on easy and try to get 15 marines, or I can challenge myself with the IWHBYD battle on Legendary with Marines to spice the fight up. Also in Halo 2, the skulls were actually challenging to find and their effects were challenging

I don't have a signature so don't look.

The ODST campaign was the most fun I had with a halo campaign.

That is very literally EXACTLY the same as my situation was!

Just playing some games that's all :3

Halo CE had big and opened areas and also an amazing style of lighting and enviorment and Halo 3 ODST had you roaming around the city as an ODST trooper and the music causing suspense,Not to mention you get to see how much Brutes are more an @$$h0le than how their usually are.
