As people have been saying, the first attack was a miserable failure, which caused Regret great shame. When Truth took the Forerunner ship to Earth, he took that huge Covenant fleet with him.

At this time, even from comments that Earth is "Covenant controlled," the battle might not be over. The teaser has most likely NOT revealed much of the storyline, and it is possible that the Covenant control only that portion.

As I said, I cannot stress enough that we do not know much from the teaser alone.

Halo CE......(sigh) the good ol' days......

“Go, stranger, and to Lacedaemon tell that here, obeying her behests, we fell.”

ok heres what happened for all you people who seem to be missing the point, 15 ship covie fleet finds earth, two super carries from that fleet break through because they are moh fuggin HUGE and the MC takes out one, the other 13 ships either get blown to crap or retreat. And then later on the rest of the covie fleet that isnt fighting itself around high charity comes to earth and continues the fight, now if you think back to the fall of reach, Reach had twenty orbital guns, with about 150 ships defending, they were fighting 300 covie ships, and the USMC could have won that battle if the covenant wouldnt have landed on the planet and taken out the guns. And when we hear that there is 300 geosync platforms around earth, i dont care how big the covie fleet is, all i picture is infinite ownage. Because in the book it says the super mac guns fire about once every 5 seconds, now thats 300 balls of hot lead capable of destroying a covie frigate in a single hit being fired every 5 seconds. I dont see how anything could have broken that line of defense. UNLESS-the 300 geosync platforms arent all orbital super mac guns, and some serve other purposes like docks and miscellaenous tasks. Anyway point is, No fifteen strong fleet battered our planet so bad......

okay guys let's be serious here. If you're gonna post stuff about the books make it accurate. A covenant ship can't [i]easily[/u] take on ten or fifteen UNSC ships. It just depends on who the captain of the ship is and whether or not our MAC guns are up, which they weren't. All it takes is a few, maybe four, MACs to a covie ship to blow it up. But anyway, the Covenant are freaking genius. They know what they're doing. If you read teh books you would see that the covenant like to have a battle in space and secretly send down invasion forces down to the planet while the battle is taking place. They did that and took out our MACs. That's why we lost.

And Regret didn't just find Earth, he actually knew where it was. If you remember in the game when COrtana is talking to MC while they're going underwater between the temples on Delta Halo, she says that she intercepted a message that said Regret jumped the gun on attacking earth. That shows that the covies knew where earth was and they were just waiting. After that huge loss they suffered in First Strike (the third book) they didn't want to just send a small group. Regret's ppl were supposed to be with that gigantic fleet that folded into regular space in the sky near High Charity

Yeah, it said it was 1/3 through the game. But do we know how long the game is???

  • 05.11.2006 7:07 PM PDT

Yeah, I smoke weed. And yeah, I like it. So either torch this bowl with me or leave me alone.

Just remember man.... no matter how good you are, she's STILL thinking of me.

umm.. im gonna make this apparent to those who still have yet to read the books. in most battles, it takes a 3 to one ratio against a covie ship to win. and also. the covenant knew where earth was, but didnt know that humans were there. for the love of god please play the game. there wasnt just 3 platforms, there were clusters of them. im pretty sure we didnt lose in H2, a few just managed to slip by. but in H3, im gonna guess that the full force of the covenant fleet crashes down like a giant hammer on earth. and yes, keyes managed some spectacular victories in battles where the odds were stacked against him, but the entire fleet wasnt made of med like Keyes. so yeah, its pretty conceivable that we could have let a few slip by.

What type of firepower does the forunner ship. The covenant only touched the surface of its ability. In other words if a brute presses a button will some emp shot go off that can stop all human things right?

  • 05.11.2006 7:14 PM PDT

Dude, it would be so cool if we had these pregnant sentinels that were, like, all flaming and shot out baby flaming sentinels that would be all "YARRRGH!" then they'd be like, "WHAAAAR" when they shoot.

That'd be sweet.

STOP.

Bungie (read carefully) says that Earth is thouroughly conquered.
And I LIKE IT that way.

Also, Regret jumped the gun when he attacked Earth, and yet during the first level final cutscene you see the Human fleet bieng torn to shreds by TWO carriers.

Yeah, pretty sure we lost over 75 of our capital ships over the covenant's 14!

Have you guys played Halo 2!?! Cortana clearly says that Regret jumped the gun when attacking earth, as in he knew it was there but was stupid and attacked with only 15 capital ships. They were still smart and kept there ships out of MAC range until they got some bombs on a few, so we took some damage but still forced them into retreat. They retreat to the Halo where Master Cheif and Cortana see the real Covenant force. Anyone remember Cortana saying "this is the biggest Covenant fleet I've ever seen" as HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of ships entered real space! Although they attack themselves for a while, the fleet was way more than enough to take Earth, only 15 managed to take out a few MAC guns and land a force on Earth. Seriously guys, play the game. What I want to no is why New Mombosa; maybe it is over the relic from the trailer?

i think employee of bungie are having fun watching us guess like an idiot and holding the true story
let's wait for halo 3
by the way, i dont think the trailer is in the middle of the game, it should be at the begining of the game because u remenber when u first play halo 2 without reading the novel u juz dont know wat's happen, so do halo 3, bungie have to left some space for novel selling.
