Ok tell me if im wrong but if I remamber correctly the Covenant attacked Earth with 15 ships, 15 Capital ships but 15 ships all the same. And on the human side we have lets say 100 ships orbiting Earth and in the exact words of Srg. Johnson "Ciro is one of 300 geosink platforms". HOW THE F**K DID WE LOSE WITH THAT SORT OF FIRE POWER?!?!?!?!?!

Please tell me if im wrong but that seems completly imposible even if it is the Covenant.

P.S. Does anyone know if we can e-mail Bungie?

you people are morons....if you remember correctly.....at the end of Halo 2, the Elites, Grunts, and Hunters are all allies with the Humans and are waging war against the Brutes, Jackels, Drones, and Prophets. So i think its safe to say that the reason there are Covenant ships and Banshees flying around in the trailer and NOT shooting at the Chief, is because THEY ARE HIS ALLIES! The Elites are without a doubt, the smartest out of all the covenant species, so i think its safe so say that they could lead an army along side the humans.

true, but how could he talk to them, he doesn't have cortana with him anymore, or in the trailor they didn't care about him being there because the ark was already going or whatever.

Hail to the Victors! Reppin' that MAIZE n BLUE!!!
Perfect Grenade
Chill bro. Gotta get my bowl.

Remember that huge fleet you see on Delta Halo? Ya, that.

"You have been measured, you have been weighed: And you have been found lacking."

Consider this...

15 Covenant Ships attack earth in Regrets fleet.
1 jumps out leaving 14 in battle.

Halo 2 takes place over a couple of hours... not days.

So by the time MC jumps back into orbit... Regrets fleet is still at battle... and not much has altered.

No doubt Truth lead the ENTIRE remaining covenant fleet to earth...
In the backdrop you see a LOT more than 15 ships...

And as stated... the Covenant Technology has ALways been superior... UNSC was falling apart... it was only a matter of time...

Also... our ships don't have sheild generators (I'm pretty sure) So a straight shot to a UNSC ship is death to it...

Vice versa... Covi ships have sheilds... you shoot something at it the sheilds are going to take the bulk of the damage... so thus their ships can last longer... thus killing more.

And swift drax... The Humans are not allies with the remaining covenant forces...
The battle is waging only on Delta Halo... as far as we know... news of the rebellion hasn't even REACHED Earth yet... So over there... everyone is still loyal to the covenant.. they are oblivious to the events on Delta Halo...

There is nothing that says they are allies... and besides... A banshee has more important things to do than take care of one lone soldier... They just opened the ark for Gods sake... Their great journey is going to begin! You think they are going to care about a lone soldier?

Yea, we know about the fleet, but were talking about if,well he's saying, that the Elites, Grunts, and Jackles sided with the humans. The brutes, prophets, and drones went and dominated earth. Am I right #2

its too quick for the elites to ally with the humans if h3 is like h2 and you switch between master chief and the arbiter you will possibly have 2 diff story lines with master cheif defending earth and the forerunner artifact, and the arbiter fighting for the ark.

and i just now thought of this what happened to the heritics? yea the arbiter killed the leader but what of his followers? i wonder if any got off before the platform fell and they will link up with their brothers the elites

and another possibility is that the ark is on earth and thats where the final battle for both the master chief and arbiter

Also, its not clear how much of earth is glassed wasteland. I know that on Reach, they bombed the poles at the very least. I believe they killed everything up to a few miles from the UNSC base, but its been a while since I read the book. For all we know, just over the horizon is an endless sheet of glass. Maybe the MC is the only human left.

The Covenant faced the toughest human planet, the finest warriors we could make, and they won. God knows how big the covie fleet is. We have seen no home planets for the covies, only the capitol which doesnt seem able to hold their entire empire. How many ships do they have? Millions? One ship for each MAC round, each bullet in a rifle? Who knows?

If you saw the ending of Halo 2, the covies had the Human UNSC backed up against a wall. It was inevitable that they would either, lose or retreat. But the surface of New Mombasa doesn't neccessarily reflect the rest of the world. Remember the cast of ilovebees? I doubt they would go so easily [and they are on the other side of the world O.o]

Since the teaser was taken from a part of the game not exactly the ending... we can safely assume that it is not being set off or that there is some delay between the Ark setting off and the remaining halos activating.
Or the rest of the game is a vulture eating the MC's body. The final boss could be a hyena!

anyone else here think that the trailer shows mombasa after the covie ship folded out the ground goes down multiple levels(like terraforming) and that would explain why the only place they went was mombasa and why regretdid not expect so much human resitance near the ark but then again thats purely speculation

and as i noted before i think the covenant have sent every ship to earth because in teh books truth orders tarturas to gather all available ships left but then again the books say there are 4 spartans total

Allies? That's the question. The Arbiter seems to be very well respected amoung the Elites and could definetley do some convincing. Whether it happened or not who knows. But I definetley see some point in the game where MC and The Arbiter are like Back to Back and totally kicking the booties of the gagillion troops who are trying to take them out.

I think that we manged to hold off the 15 ship fleet of regrets BUT,

Now the brutes and elites have started blowing the crap out of each other which severely cripples the covenant fleet overall.
secondly the flood took over high charity and attacked everyone. there is a remote possibility that the flood managed to get control of a few capital ships.
third there is the commander elite in the great journey who took back the cruiser the brutes had.
He will go and attack the remaining brute ships at earth.
Overall there will be about 30 brute capital ships remaining if they wiped out ALL of the ships the elites controlled.
Our problem now will be we have to defend againt an invasion by the brutes and If my theory is correct we will have to fight off a few flood ships at earth BIG PROBLEM!

Tell me what you think.

The reason the covenant were able to win is because they had better slipspace techniques, such as being able to make a jump PAST the MAC guns. If you remeber from the Fall of Reach, the covenant could easily destroy the guns once their actually on the planet.

the reason two carrier got through is that the story needed them to, even though in real life our 300 MAC guns and possibly a thousand ships would have shreaded those 15 covenant ships, if it had the Chief wouldnt of got to delta halo and the story would be screwed, so we may be beaten in Halo 3 but we would of taken a hell of a lot of covenant arse holes down with us

but we dont know how many mac guns are in range or their area of fire. in the game they have taken out 2 out of three mac guns in the area master cheif is in by blowing them up by bombs. we also dont know the rate of turning for the mac guns so its possible the ships could of out ran the area of fire quickly. im not sure if its stated but the comm chatter implies that the unsc have sent ships to fight the covie ships so the human ships could be in the way

theres too many variables but if i would say 13 ships would of managed to survive its by going out of the effective range of the mac cannons and destroying any ship they see while bombing the mac guns with infantry

Ok heres my theory.

Their 15 capital ships, as we already know, can unload a massive assualt, and if they are sending them to conquer Earth im pretty sure they know of what magniture our deffences are in. The 15 capital ships probally unload enough ships that, keep in mind, are faster, stronger, and all in all, flat out further advanced then our ships. Probally with a bit of massive out-manuevering and overwhelmment we lose the space fight.

After defeating us on what most likely was our only, and last, defence against an invasion, we are pretty much fish in a barrle for the covy to take pot shots at us from turrents in space or to unleash any amount of military units at any time. That is how we lose.

How do we win? You don't honestly think they are going to end the Halo Trilogy with that do you?

My theory...

Does everyone remember that the Elites and the Brutes are nearly at war with each other, as we saw at the last few levels of Halo 2. The Covy that conquered earth were most likely the Brutes, Jeckles, Drones, and half of the Grunts. They all still believe in the Profits visions of the Ring. The Elites, Hunters, and other half of the Grunts, on the other hand, have been betrayed by the Profits. In my opinion, the Elite army will come to aid the humans in an effort to defeat the Brutes, and it goes from there, they bring the chief, some fighting happens, they get to some futuristic stand-off or something of the sort and we probally create an alliance with the Elites.

Oh yea... the flood are there too, they probally die somewhere in the middle.

Remember Noble.

Remember Reach.

I think its simple....if UNSC lost 2 MAC guns...(Athens, Malta) in just that short amount of time, just think how many they took out without the chief being there. Without him and the MAC guns, the Covies could just easily walk in and take over
