I was playing through the campaign and I noticed that the slip space rupture opened by Regret's ship brought everything within the 'bubble' through the veil. So I was thinking the rupture possibly unearthed The Ark or whatever it is. Regret obviously found something in Africa that gave him the coordinates to Installation 05, if they were looking for The Ark, Regret would have stayed on Earth very well knowing he could activate all the Halo's from The Ark making any travel to Delto Halo redundant. Which probably means they found it on accident. Please elaborate.

The explosion that hit when Regret jumped into slipspace destroyed everything, and caused the crater that we see.

The covenant knew where the Ark was, that's why the only landed there.

Regret left because he was losing, he came unprepared for human contact.

I don't agree with this at all

Then why didn't he go to High Charity to get back up? If they didn't find anything on Africa, Regret and the Covenant would have skipped Earth and gone straight to Installation 05. Remember Cortana used the symbols from the artifact found on Sigma Octanus to find the first Halo. There was one on Reach and there sure as hell was one on Earth.

he couldnt get backup because after that, the other prophets lost faith in him for going alone, and "jeopardizing their grand design".

Why the heck would he head only to Mombosa if there was nothing special about it. I definitily think he knew the relic from the trailer was under Mombosa but had to run away or get destroyed. If you remember, guilty spark tells Ms. Keyes that all the Halos are ready for remote activation AFTER she emergency deactivates the Halo. The Arc wouldn't do Regret much good without the opportunity to activate all the Halos.

This is what I think, Regret came to Earth finding the cordinates for Instelation 05, most likely on a rock in some cave kinda like what happened in "The Fall of Reach", however there would be something more significant in that cave along with coordinates to 05, possibly coordinates to all rings, that would explain the presence of a prophet higherarch *sp., They go to the planet where they think the cave is, and it just happens to be the human homplanet. That would explain Regrets' shock in his plea for forgivness to Truth. The Covenant probably manage to decode one of the cordinates for a Halo and decided to bug right there and decided another ring was not needed for the task. And you have Halo 2, but then deeper in that cave you would have the Ark. It's a theory that I poundered upon in class one day and I decided to make a machinama about it, which if you want to particitpate you should join my new group, T2K studios.

I doubt the slipspace rupture created a nice little crater exactly as deep as the structure underground. Covanant had to dig it up.

Most likely, they probably have all the time in the world since it looks like they took care of Earth's defenders in the Cheif absence

I remember hearing that the crater was only 3 miles wide (I don't remember where so don't ask me). If you watch the video at the end of Metropolis you can see the slip space rupture engulf the entire city....
