I have heard a few different things...of course I have played Halo 1 and 2 for hours on end but I havnt read the books...do they go along with the games...or are they seperate? or maybe mixed together alittle?
kind of....in HALO The Flood, it goes along with HALO:CE, The Fall of Reach and First strike in my opinoin are not in the games i think, but they are cool to read.

Yes they go along with the games, despite what some people say...They connect but some of the connections are blurry and have yet to be explained. Like the long gap between Master Chief heading home on the Gettysburg and the time he actually arrives, which begs to answer for what happens before Halo 2.
I'm one of those storm chasers that will never have a TV show because I don't scream at clouds.
There is a fourth book slated for release that I THINK will be a bridge between Halo: First Strike and Halo 2. Please note that my opinion is based on the fact that a separate story seems to have been created for this new book, and that is the only logical place where a new story would fit.

The Halo books fill in the gaps in the story line. If you're lost about some thing in the story of Halo, read the books (The Flood isn't required..) and it explains TONS. TONS.
The Flood goes along with Halo 1, the other books don't but should go along with halo 3 (Hint Hint Bungie). Maybe the movie will go along with the books.
The books ARE official. the end.
........we kinda knew that I hope.......
Yo I ain't a huge reader. And these are some of the only books I read, Check them out.
