Be strong, Own the world, Be the world

I've read lots of forums on Bungie.net and there seems to be tons of people who hate MLG players and give them lots of crap. So why do you guys hate MLG? What's the beef?

Spread the love...

I think that's an unfair stereotype. I personally have nothing against MLG players.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I don't hate MLG players. If you MLG game, more power to you.

But I HATE when people try and force the stuff down my throat. Like wanting to make games more "MLG", harassing users becuase they like playing Infection, and all that stuff. I have met some pretty one-way-track MLG players that believe the only way to have ANY fun in halo is to check your k/d every 3 seconds and play MLG snipers on Lockout all day.

I think people should people should be able to play any game any way they see fit as long as it is not hacking into the game and going into multiplayer with infinite ammo and god mode enabled.

Also the fact that many people claiming to be MLG are total posers.

Why would I ever hate MLG players?

I don't hate MLG, but I hate how it has become such an ego filled cesspool of arrogance and competitiveness that leads to people believing sportsmanship is a thing of the past and that nowadays you must hate your opponent.

That's my impression of the impact MLG has had on gaming. I cannot play a game and be in a public lobby without being insult, and cursed at just for beating people.

I once got cursed out in Reach for saying to these people "Good Game" (They won). I don't see how being a raging jerk is cool.

To me, caring about k/d and all that competitiveness can feel like work. I like having fun and just playing with friends.

I think MLG in general is quite odd really, and very overrated. However, I don't have anything agianst the players personaly.

Who the hell do you think I am?

They're just jealous. Obviously.

Yeah, I've gotten so many "clan" invites, and they turn out to be a bunch of 12 year olds who think their good. Everytime I get an invite, I tell them the same thing,"I'm an all-around type gamer, I spend my gaming time playing multiple games rather than joining a bunch of other good players and wrecking the same game over and over." Look up "trying to join a halo clan freakout" on YouTube by Team0Epiphany. Funny stuff.

Exactly! I was going to add that after every game of Call of Duty that I play (if I am in the lobby and not a party), I make the effort to always say "good game." I've been cursed out so many times for this. Hell, I have so much disdain for the arrogance and rudeness of the typical Xbox LIVE gamer I could probably write a doctoral thesis about how we're becoming a overly competitive culture and loosing all our empathy.

There was a thread in 343i forum where I saw 10+ "MLG" players say they wanted 343i to remove infection game modes and Grifball from halo Reach and every future Halo game becuase it took away from slayer.

They also said that the people playing them were noobs and casuals.

It really disappoints me when I see people like that and especially when they try and influence a game dev to try and make the game less enjoyable for everyone on idiotic grounds.

I personally think they should add more gametypes, if anything it adds to the fun. There is already enough people that play slayer anyway. To me, Halo is about fun... not pure competitveness. One gametype 343 really needs to get back is premium slayer... I miss playing my DLC maps...

Got a question, comment, or concern? PM me.

Because whenever I play people in MLG, regardless of who wins, I say good game, and almost everytime they say "LOL U SUKK BRO LRN TU PLAY FRIKN RANDIES".

Yet, they are also in fact randoms because no one has heard of them. I just don't say good game after whooping their asses anymore.

I don't hate MLG gamers. The few real ones I've met online were okay people.

Although, I don't like "hardcore" gamers (that commonly use MLG instead of cool or better) that play games with unending rage, impenetrable arrogance and a hyper-competitive nature topped by none. It feels like they forgot that they're supposed to be enjoying the games that they play. It's gone as far as players making up (in my opinion, lame) tricks that are supposedly "MLG" and naming all other techniques "Nooby" or "cheating".

Why don't they just learn to enjoy themselves if they're winning or loosing? Why do people get frustrated so easily? If they aren't enjoying themselves so much, why do they play? Why am I asking you all of these questions? Frog blast the vent core!

  • 01.04.2012 7:44 PM PDT

I play MLG and maintain a 0.03 K/D ratio.

But I'm also a member of this community, and I don't hate.

  • 01.04.2012 7:59 PM PDT

I don't mess with those guys. They spend more time on Xbox then they do school.
